If he has never heard of Jesus and had no one in his entire life try to witness to him...then he is going to heaven...weird but true. Yet, if he has acted in a good manner, and regretted his evil acts, has he not yearned for forgiveness? Thus, since God is almighty, the man has asked for forgiveness if he has regretted his evil acts (for an almighty god knows what is in a man or woman's heart). |

handicapped go to heaven? they could not possibly know who jesus is. so? WOW!! I think that is the most judgemental statement I've ever heard how is that judgemental? i was just asking a question, and stating that SOME mentally handicapped people could not reason God or Jesus you said... and i quote... they could not possibly know who jesus is.... I have worked with the mentally handicapped for 13 years... and MANY of them would put most of us to shame on thier understanding of jesus..who he is.. how and why he died...and what he represents... maybe you need to go visit a few and see for yourself!! OK, like i said earlier i should have put SOME, you have to admit SOME will not be able to comprehend what religion or GOd is. Nobody on this planet comprehends what God is. ok then what do you have to do to get into heaven? If you read the bible... you will understand you can do nothing to get into heaven but believe and ask forgiveness. However, as for the children and childlike: "Bring them unto me" (kind of a famous quote of the bible regarding children). You think that a God of love would not extend grace to those who don't comprehend? If so go look at the entire thing again... because you got the wrong message. if an islander, in the middle of nowhere, who has never heard of jesus dies, where does he go? Go read "The Great Divorce" by C.S. Lewis. I don't think a God of love would damn someone ignorant of God just because nobody has reached out to said person. If you want to speculate about the way to heaven, go ahead... but if you want facts, you will have to die. |

No, again... the only issue with this is that people don't bother to THINK. Otherwise we would all be telling the politicians and media (in general, there are a few bright spots every now and then) to go $@^* off. Isn't it funny that most countries over throw their government every 100 years or so, and we never do it, I wonder if that would help matters? Actually, the documents included with our constitution stated that we should create a new, small, governing body and constitution every 25 years at the most. I would love to see this election come up with a 90% or so public vote of: I do not trust any of these people to govern our nation, please find new candidates and try again. (although it won't happen, lol) |

Yeah.... why did you bother to post this? You do know you probably just put yourself in the spotlight for some media group against discrimination of the handicapped. (Well, aside from looking like a jerk, that is). The "mentally handicapped" are often more capable than most of our high school graduates (look at the curriculum for goodness sake... if you can tie your shoes you can pass if 12 states!)

Age is meaningless in terms of religion. You have a belief or you don't. It can't be dictated, since each person is different. There is no level of intelligence any person can reach that can cause or prevent belief in a religion. There is no age at which one can truly comprehend and understand what God really is, as you put it, because God is a being beyond our own limits.
So my answer is you have to be old enough to be dead to truly understand what God is. Anything else is too young. |
