Ummmm...what?! If you're a Stephen King fan, read Different Seasons and you'll find this story; a little different in the book but not by much and TOTALLY worth watching...one of my favorites as a kid.

Just remember the novella in Different Seasons is called The Body and not Stand By Me.

Also, yes view it, like everyone else is saying. One of my all time favorite movies. Back when I first got a dvd player it was one of the first movies I bought on dvd. And Different Seasons is my favorite Stephen King book, especially because of The Body as well as Rita Hayworth And The Shawshank Redemption. Shorten that 2nd novella title and you get another great movie from that book. Was not much of a fan of The Apt Pupil movie as I was of the novella though.

I'm a casual fan.

If it's on and I happen to run across it, I'll usually watch it.

I like the game, but the " flopping " ( faking an injury at the slightest jolt from an opposing player ) at the higher levels is utterly ridiculous.

I love the game and agree that yes the dramatic "suddenly I'm hurt and have to roll around grimacing in pain to waste time" only to see them get up and run around with no problem, is definitely a lousy part of the game. Even when the team I am rooting for starts that because they're ahead I don't like it. Also the time wasters of waiting to decide who will make the throw in or corner kick/free kick, the keeper taking forever to perform a goal kick, walking slowly off the field when bring substituted, etc. It's all silly and I have seen it backfire on teams when their opponent scores a late goal & if all the flopping didn't happen, they might of had time to counter. The ref keeps track of the time for such things but obviously doesn't account for every second wasted. In otherwords, I agree, heh.

Are there any soccer fans on the site? I'm counting down the days until my trip up to Dallas to start the MLS season. Also praying that Newcastle hang on to a promotion spot for next year.

Let's see if Chris Hughton can keep Newcastle in the Premiership next season. The owner Mike Ashley said he put aside money to spend in the summer transfer window.

Newcastle United!

Another in the Toon Army, glad I'm not alone here! They're returning to the premiership next season. happy
In their absence I found myself supporting Tottenham. My nephew supports the Gooners so we talk trash to eachother because of the rivalry. These are the teams I support..

Newcastle United
Tottenham Hotspurs (unless when they'll be playing Newcastle again next season)
Juventus
Celtic
Ajax
Barcelona
Bayern Munich
River Plate
FC Porto

I pull for EPL teams in the UEFA cup, so was pulling for Arsenal & Manchester United, regardless of who the played.

My favorite league is the EPL & I like to watch Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal, and sometimes Chelsea, as far as watching matches as a neutral. But I love the sport and even as an American, I refer to it as football, rather than soccer, it's the original football around long before the NFL and college "football."
I have trouble watching MLS, the pace and quality doesn't compare to EPL, etc., but it's understandable.

I jokingly say I don't like The Doors because they didn't have a bass player, heh. Being that I play the bass, so have to say that about them. But yeah, lyrics weren't to my liking either but I don't follow poetry well regardless.

A recently retired man bought a new red Corvette and was driving down the interstate. He noticed himself stepping on the gas pedal more often until he was eventually going 100mph. A state trooper spotted him and pulled behind the Corvette, turning on his lights and siren. The retired man saw the trooper but increased his speed. After a short chase, the retired man realized,"I shouldn't be doing this.." and promptly pulled over.

The trooper walked up to the mans car and said,"Look, my shift is almost over, so if you can give me a good enough reason, one that I have never heard before, why you were speeding when I followed you, I'll let you go."
The man thought for a minute and then told the trooper,"My wife left me for a state trooper and I thought you were trying to return her." "Have a good day sir," the trooper told the man.

One of my favorite 7" vinyl EPs I have is Husker Du "In A Free Land", which has the title track, the track "What Do I Want?" and "M.I.C." Great EP :)
Dude...if you own original copies of THAT then hang on to em', man...cuz' they're worth a mint.

It's a reissue..but I bet an original would be valuable. But as long as mine plays, I'm happy. happy

I prefer the Misfits, as far as punk goes.

I just saw a Misfits cover band a few weeks ago at a show, people were loving it. I was stoked and singing along, especially to "I Turned Into A Martian" which is my favorite Misfits tune, so was happy it was on their set list. Only a fan of them with Glen Danzig on vocals, couldn't really get into the Misfits after hus departure.

Agree... The movie and the novella in Different Seasons are both great. As well as the novella "The Body" in the same book, which is of course what Stand By Me was based on.
This is agreeing with Michiganman and JustAGuy...I'm on my ipod touch so it is probably why it messed up when I tried to quote the posts..
