I don't think I would use the word stadard when you tell him you are not interested, if he is unstable, that would set him off. "in for a dollar thing"...tell him you just got out of a bad relationship and are taking a break from men for awhile, or maybe invite him to go to church with you! laugh that usually scares people off, or even just grab his hand and say...lets pray about this...Dear God, we ask for your guidance in this situation.....laugh

try the six month rule: do not give yourself over to a guy unless they can manage to behave in the same consistant manner and in all situations for that amount of time...and this is during a daily getting together and spending time together. if you start to see anything that you don't like, walk away, and since you have not given yourself to this person, you will be able to do it with your head held high.
