I thought I'd help you all out a little. I can not believe what I read earlier. A poster actually wrote that Palin had more U.S. and World experience then Obama and Biden combined.

So I thought I would post some information on Biden and clear up that myth.

Biden has served over 30 years in the Senate and is Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, He served as the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee for 16 years, including an extended term as Chairman from 1987-95. Today, Senator Biden is the Chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Drugs.

Senate Approves Biden's National Child Protection Improvement Act
October 18, 2007

WASHINGTON, DC -- Last night the United States Senate unanimously approved bipartisan legislation authored by Senators Joe Biden (D-DE) and Strom Thurmond (R-SC) to protect children, the elderly and individuals with disabilities by providing non-profit groups with easy access to thorough, efficient criminal background checks.
The National Child Protection and Volunteers for Children Improvement Act provides $100 million to establish a clearinghouse within the Justice Department to perform nationwide criminal history records checks. The background checks will be provided to organizations which utilize volunteers for a minimal fee and to all other organizations that serve children, the elderly and individuals with disabilities for $18 per check.
"In their efforts to provide care for America's children, groups like the Boys & Girls Clubs currently depend on a confusing, ineffective, and costly system that leaves kids, the elderly and other vulnerable people at risk," said Biden, Chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Drugs. "Approval of this measure brings us one step closer to ensuring our kids, our grandparents, and those with disabilities are safe when they place their lives in the hands of employees and volunteers for organizations that provide care, treatment, education and training."
Praising Senator Bidens efforts in spearheading this initiative, Robbie Callaway, Senior Vice President of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, noted: "Your bill will provide groups like Boys & Girls Clubs of America with real and easy access to criminal background checks so that we can quickly and absolutely ascertain that the staff and volunteers who come into contact with our young people have only the best of intentions."

Biden-Brownback Measure Calling for the U.S. to Support a Federal Iraq Passes as Part of the Department of Defense Conference Report
Biden Efforts to Bar Permanent Bases in Iraq and Protect Troops with Mine Resistant Vehicles Also Included in Report
Washington, DC - The U.S. Senate passed legislation today, sponsored by Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Joseph R. Biden, Jr. (D-DE) and Senator Sam Brownback (R-KS), which calls for the United States to support a political settlement in Iraq based on a federal system of government. The Biden-Brownback measure - which passed as part of the Department of Defense Conference report - has garnered overwhelming bipartisan support in both Houses of Congress and would require a major strategic shift in the Administration's Iraq policy. President Bush vetoed the original Department of Defense Authorization report in December because of an unrelated issue that Congress subsequently addressed.
"We have both sides of the aisle, both sides of the U.S. Capitol, saying to the President: abandon this flawed strategy of yours in Iraq and change course. Everyone agrees that there is no pure military solution in Iraq. There has to be a political solution and that begs the question: what is it? Congress has again answered that question with one voice" said Senator Joe Biden

BIDEN Calls on White House Counsel Fielding to Ensure President, Vice President Preserve Documents Relating to Destroyed CIA Interrogation Tapes
December 11, 2007

Washington, DC - Former Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee Joseph R. Biden, Jr. (D-DE) sent a letter to Fred Fielding, Counsel to the President, asking him to confirm that the White House and the Office of the Vice President are preserving all documents related to the Central Intelligence Agency's policies and programs regarding the detention and interrogation of individuals involved in international terrorism. In the past, the Office of the Vice President has argued that it is not subject to Executive Orders regarding the preservation of documents. Sen. Biden's letter comes just days after reports that White House officials were aware of the existence of CIA interrogation tapes and were involved in discussions regarding whether they should be preserved.
The full text of the letter follows.
December 11, 2007
Mr. Fred Fielding
Counsel to the President
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20500
Dear Fred:
On December 10, 2007, White House Press Secretary Dana Perino stated that you issued a written directive to White House employees to preserve documents related to the destruction of the CIA interrogation tapes. Ms. Perino did not provide a copy of the directive, however, and she was unable to answer questions as to its breadth and scope.
Please confirm that the directive to preserve documents applied to the Executive Office of the President, including the National Security Council, in addition to immediate White House staff. In light of the Office of the Vice President's record of fatuous arguments that it is not subject to the authority of the President, please also confirm that the directive included the Office of the Vice President and that the Office of the Vice President intends to comply.
I appreciate your prompt response.
Sincerely,
Joseph R. Biden, Jr.

BIDEN Calls on Mukasey to Appoint Special Counsel to Investigate CIA's Destruction of Interrogation Tapes
December 9, 2007

Washington, DC - Former Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee and current Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Joseph R. Biden, Jr. (D-DE) called on Attorney General Michael Mukasey today to appoint a Special Counsel to investigate the CIA's destruction of interrogation tapes:
"Under federal law, the Attorney General may appoint a Special Counsel to prosecute matters when he or she determines that an investigation by the Department itself would present a conflict of interest, or there are other extraordinary circumstances and it would be in the public interest to do so. I believe these conditions are met.
"This is a White House that has sanctioned and pushed for the kind of interrogation techniques captured on those video tapes. This is a White House that was informed of the CIA's desire to destroy those tapes. Thus, it is possible this investigation could lead to the White House. For these reasons, I believe the CIA's destruction of these interrogation tapes meets the extraordinary circumstances criterion and it would be in the public's interest for Attorney General Michael Mukasey to appoint a Special Counsel to do an independent investigation."

BIDEN Legislation Authorizing Helicopters for the Peacekeeping Mission in Darfur Passes Appropriations Committee
May 16, 2008

Washington, DC – A provision authored by Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Joseph R. Biden, Jr. (D-DE) authorizing the President to provide U.S. helicopters to the U.N.-A.U. joint peacekeeping force in Darfur passed the Senate Appropriations Committee as part of the FY08 Supplemental Appropriations Bill. U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has called helicopters indispensable for the peacekeeping mission and for months has asked for 24 tactical and utility helicopters, but to date only four vehicles with sufficient capabilities have been committed. Sen. Biden’s provision authorizes the President to transfer U.S. helicopters from the Department of Defense inventory to assist the joint U.N-A.U. force in Darfur.

“We cannot allow genocide and suffering to continue because the combined nations of the world cannot find 24 helicopters to help stop it. That is inexcusable,” said Senator Biden. “It’s true that these helicopters alone will not save Darfur – Darfur desperately needs more peacekeepers – but without mobility, troops cannot do their jobs

BIDEN Calls on Colleagues to Support Anti-Torture Legislation Following President's Veto of Intelligence Authorization Bill

March 8, 2008

Washington, DC — Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee Joseph R. Biden, Jr. (D-DE) called on his colleagues to support anti-torture legislation following President Bush's veto of the FY08 Intelligence Authorization Bill earlier today. The Intelligence Authorization legislation contained an important anti-torture provision that would prohibit the CIA from using any interrogation technique not authorized by the US Army Field Manual, which explicitly prohibits waterboarding and other "acts of violence or intimidation, including physical or mental torture, or exposure to inhumane treatment."

a mayor / govenor.....balances budgets, leads people, makes decisions about the betterment of their community.
as far as harvard....BB king holds 4 degrees from their and was an 8th grade drop out. jesse ventura...mayor,gov of MN, former pro wrestler....he has been teaching there.,

And it is statements like these that make me wonder why people will say things they know nothing about.

It amazes me.
Do they think if they say it no one will question it because why would someone say something so bold if it weren't true?

No, people say things because of agenda's.
And it is really not in good form to be speaking in a public forum and giving misinformation.
FACT is.

To date, fifteen senators have gone onto serve in the nation's highest elected office, the presidency. Two senators, Warren G. Harding and John F. Kennedy, moved directly from the U.S. Senate to the White House.

Is Palin the most qualified person that McCain could have picked?

I am embarrassed that he picked Palin. Can you imagine her as our President? It can happen. He is 72 years old and had cancer four times.

I believe if they become President and Vice-President, he has put our country in jeopardy in the event that he would die.

Other countries must be laughing at us, IMO.

She is a lot more qualified then Obama...He has absolutely no experience other then a "community Activist" and 143 days in the senate. No excutive experience running any business etc. Sarah Palin was a Mayor, and Governor and has dealt with energy policies, oil, and border issues as well.
She may not be the MOST qualified in the US but far surpasses any experience in World or US affairs than Obama and O biden put together.

fyi..
Executive* not -excutive

You have got to be kidding me right... Do you know anything about Joe Biden?
Are you serious with this statement..
Lets talk about Joe Biden for a minute ok..

Biden is the Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and has been for over 30 years are you kidding me.. He has authored bills/Laws .. he has passed so much legislation it would take you months to go through all his work that he has accomplished.

A constitutional scholar and adjunct professor of law at Widener Law School, Senator Biden is one of the Senate's leading voices on crime and drug policy. U.S. News & World Report described Senator Biden as "the Democrats' chief anti-crime specialist on Capitol Hill." He served as the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee for 16 years, including an extended term as Chairman from 1987-95. Today, Senator Biden is the Chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime and Drugs, where he continues to lead the debate on criminal justice and public safety issues.

The Biden Crime Bill
Since coming to the Senate, Biden has written some of the most innovative and far-reaching criminal justice proposals in recent history, including the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act, also known as the Biden Crime Bill. The 1994 law put more than 100,000 additional police officers on the streets

You are talking about something you know ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about.
Please do not type false information about someone who has done so much for the people of our country. He is a very respectable man, and does not talk down to people. He will debate facts/issues but he is a gentleman. His demeanor is strength and if you have something to say negative you should have backup/proof-not just foul tongue- he is action not lip service. You should be ashamed of yourself, truly you should.
The debates will speak for themselves.
Palin is nowhere close to him, you are poorly informed-

I will not add any more to your post with his information- I will give him a separate post.

You should really think before you type-more informed/knowledgeable people look at posts like these and are like *blank stare*

Unbelievable

Abstinence does not work now does it? Education does now doesn't it.

How many teenagers do you know think clearly.
Until the age of 25 our frontal lobes are not developed fully. That is our 'rational thinking' part of our brain. Our impulse center.
If teenagers are not armed with knowledge, and just preached to it does no good when the time comes when they are impulsive.

www.brainconnection.com/topics/?main=news-in-rev/teen-frontal

I feel really bad for teenagers that have to live in situations where parents refuse to be logical. Regardless of where you stand- you're not promoting sex by educating your teenagers, you are being smart.
Teenagers are not equipped mentally to meet every challenge all the time. It is playing with your kids futures because you refuse to have a conversation.
And that is why her daughter is pregnant. And Alaska has such a high rate of STD's.

Sure never heard Mrs. Palin mention anything bout this health concern.
Current Issues and Trends
In 2006 due to an outbreak among
homeless people in Anchorage. Of particular concern are two groups, Alaska Natives
and Asian people, who have rates of TB that are up to five times greater than the state
average. These groups represent only 17% and 4% of the total population, respectively,
but suffer 75-85% of the burden of this disease. Because many people in Alaska are
infected with the TB germ (have latent TB diagnosed by a positive TB skin test), it is
very likely that sporadic outbreaks will occur.
People who have been in contact with each case of TB are evaluated for infection and
disease due to TB. The investigation of contacts is a critical part of TB control, and is
not directly reflected in this graph. There are, on average, 16 contacts identified for each
person with TB. In addition, between 600 and 800 people are found to have latent TB
infection each year in Alaska and are started on treatment to prevent TB disease.

Data Limitations
TB reporting is part of a passive disease surveillance system. It is possible that cases
went unreported, but this is highly unlikely for the following reasons: 1) most providers,
public and private, utilize the State Public Health Laboratory for TB cultures; 2) the
State provides TB medications free of charge; and 3) a 2001 pilot study of pharmacies
dispensing TB meds failed to find additional cases.
Current Issues and Trends
Rates of chlamydia infection have risen steadily in Alaska and the U.S. in recent years,
and Alaska’s rate has been nearly twice the U.S. rate since 2002
Gonorrhea we fare a little higher check out the site..
But know I checked out U.S. site and Alaska and it was MUCH harder to navigate through Alaska's sites. They had many dead links as well. The links to teen pregnancies and abortions was dead.
:/

But there are more post neonatal deaths in Alaska..

More people in Alaska reporting they don't get health care...
by almost 4%

www.hss.state.ak.us/dph/infocenter/pubs/healthStatus97-06.pdf

**
I work in healthcare and TB is a serious issue. Not sure what is going on here.

Never once heard a healthcare address about a concern over TB though.

Eh, my teens went back to school 3 weeks ago. One is a Junior and the other a Senior in H.S.

My Daughter started College this summer though, so she is doing her senior year in H.S. and college at the same time. Sorta a crazy schedule for me.

i have one 7 and one 19 oh what a feeling

I can't even imagine what people go through after having one as a pre-teen, or teen.. and have another one.

what I don't get it. My conclusion is most I would guess had a boy first. Boys are easier and they just don't send ya off the deep end like teenage girls do.... Now having kids in a cluster is different, you really have no idea. But whoa! After you actually lived through it-----and had many years to say zOMG what did I do to deserve this?! Then do it again--either, you are strong.. Or have slight dementia..or nutz.... lol
scared
i love children they are very hard at times .they teach me to deal with the real world.i love to look through a child eyes they have not been hurt you name it.they for ever keep me young.yea they can be a pain in the a$$.what scares me is the real world and the pepole in it.i have to teach my 7 year old what this world is about so when she goes into it she does not freek. that is what is good about being older.if i found the right woman i would have more children call me crazy but children are great.

Well it's not that I think children are not great.
I just think it such a immense responsibility.
I believe I not only owe it to them that I keep up as they mature into adults and their stages, I feel I have more to offer them and society by not any further additions.
My daughter is going into the service next year and I am sure at some point in the next ten years she will be headed towards a family of her own. I want to fit into that as freely as I can. W/out restraints or distractions of more kids. I don't want children in the generation as my grandchildren.

I want to spend my older years not doing what I did for the last 18 years. ya, I just want to be a Mom, grandma at some point---and enjoy my life.

Because really right now, between Wrestling, ROTC, Color Guard, their school groups they been/are involved in, daughter goes to college twice a week as well... and well, my teens volunteer at our church once a week--- they been on summer break from that, but I'm sure that starts back soon.. and they go to church on average 2 other times a week, and always want to do extra events through there- oh and Mexico missionary every year, that can tend to be a drain getting ready for that, And and and and and it goes on and on.. some know senior year for kids is hectic... planning graduation
stuff, iono---- just been through all the years and stages, can't imagine doing it again.

everyone has to have similar things going on, so I am not sure why I am like feeling the stand alone,'Im about to be freeeeeee', and others are like, 'give me more', ha

not sure how people-- want to do that alllllll over again..
I want my time.

First Palin did not jump into a race for President..
She was choosen for a running mate by McCain.

VP and President are two totally different positions in the White House.

Obama was nominated as the Dem presidential Candidate as was McCain for the repub. Candidate.

McCain is running against Obama you all are a little confused on who is running for president I think.

Biden has my respect. I can say this, Palin has lots of work to do before any debate with Biden.

Who writes Wikipedia

Volunteers do not need any formal training before creating a new article or editing an existing article. The people who create and edit articles in Wikipedia come from countries all around the world and have a wide range of ages and backgrounds. Anyone who contributes to this encyclopedia is called a "Wikipedian".

Wikipedia:About

This is an introduction to the Wikipedia project for visitors.

'The wikipedia.org Web site, Wikipedia's homepage for all languages.Wikipedia (pronounced /ˌwiːkiˈpiːdiə/ or /ˌwɪkiˈpiːdiə/) is a multilingual, Web-based, free content encyclopedia project'.

Wikipedia is written collaboratively by volunteers from all around the world. Since its creation in 2001.

'EVERY day HUNDREDS of THOUSANDS of visitors from around the world make TENS of THOUSANDS of EDITS and CREATE THOUSANDS of New Articles'

[interesting statement]

Visitors DO NOT need specialized qualifications to contribute, since their primary role is to write articles that cover existing knowledge;

this means that people of all ages and cultural and social backgrounds CAN write Wikipedia articles.
Most of the articles 'CAN BE EDITED by Anyone with access to the Internet',
'SIMPLY by CLICKING the edit this page link'.

'Anyone is welcome to add information',
cross-references or citations....

Because Wikipedia is an ongoing work to which, in principle, anybody can contribute, it differs from a paper-based reference source in important ways. In particular, older articles tend to be more comprehensive and balanced, while newer articles MORE frequently contain significant MISINFORMATION, unencyclopedic content, or vandalism.
*side note-unencyclopedic isn't a word* shocked (wikipedia used it not me)

'Users need to be AWARE of this to obtain valid information and avoid misinformation that has been recently added', etc... it goes on.. and on...

you have to click around to find out what wikipedia says about what they are and aren't.

They do say they will remove unrelated subject material. But if you browse through wikipedia or have spent time fact checking this you would know.

Btw.. this is beside the point, any site that has admissions that can be edited by basically a 5 year old and an adult with a sound mind has these such facts placed in front of them by the site owner and the adult still dismisses the claim by reasoning, 'it still could be ok,' they could be removing the edits.

What is the thought process here? Why in the world would anyone step in that direction when there are 9483748593984 credible sources within another click of the mouse.
I can't see the rationale.

There is absolutely nothing that could be less reputable(?), credible, or resourceful then a forum where anyone in the living world that has access to the Internet can EDIT the applied information viewed.

I believe with all things considered Biden was a better choice.

Clintons had their time in the White House. And it got real strange for me towards the end. I couldn't figure out what she was doing.

Media and politicians work together a lot. And I know the Clintons had to have had a few friends inside with the media. I am not sure the angle on thier clear divide/endorse/divide/endorse behaviors displayed throughout.

And not coming out more clearly to the people. They have internet access like all other candidates. Dems are much more savvy when it comes to technology and the world wide web. And I felt she really kept people guessing a little to long.

And really I felt she didn't fit into the whole 'change' idea. It would of been a hypocritical move on Obama's behalf to put her as running mate.

On another note, she did NOT want to be VP. She made that very clear. She wanted to be President and if she couldn't acheive that she wanted to return back to what she was doing. She said that over and over. She said she would never consider VP.

Last thing I'd like to add is
this is today not yesterday-- more to really focus on now.

The H after the A does not make it funny.

People will continue to be with the playground mentality, 'mine is better than yours.'

Impressive? No.

Still haven't seen sources on 99% of what is spewed in these forums.

McCain takes PAC monies, Interest groups, last I checked it was around 1.4 million, I am sure it is well over that by now.
fec.gov for information on presidential financial disclosures.
Obama does not take PAC monies- he is not being bought by big business that is a FACT.
McCain is being bought by big business that is a FACT.
It is in black n white on the financial stats on the FEC site.

It is all disclosed.

Know McCain is for big business not for us. He will have many favors to pay back. And he is familiar with how to do that.

These are all way off the mark of what is really happening. You blow it all up to make your opponents look worse than what they are. Typical lib mentality.

I'd say BUSH kept us safe by taking the OFFENSIVE, & not what libs suggest, take defensive postures. Waiting until something happenes DOES NOT KEEP US SAFE!

The clintons fired people too. So your point was?

Moral standing? Against who...thug govts. like Iran & Syria? LOL Are you kiddin' me????

Lame ass, weak response. You've got nothing but fear to run on this year. Bushes legacy will hamper us for years.

Lame what? LOL Gotcha!!!!! hahahahaha

The truth really burns YOUR arss...doesn't it? hahahahahahahaha

hay thanks, that is great history. Although-until I thoroughly read it I won't have to many comments on the old versus the new besides obvious bland points.

I skimmed over and put on my favs. for later today.

Thanks again
