I am expecting a hetic morning... my son has been a royal pain in the @ss for 3 weeks now... because he will be going to kindergaten. He has been in head start or pre-school since he was 3. But its now a different school... and he has to wear an uniform... he does not want to go... I have tried all the parent tricks... the big boy speech.... he'll make new friends ... cool new playground... etc...

Well tomorrow should be interesting... and to top it off... I start my new classes tomorrow too.... and will be late to my first class b/c I didn't want to drop him off at latchkey on his first day.

oh well.... the joys of being a parent.

LOL, my son starts 2nd grade in the morning...he asked me if I would run him over with the car to break his legs so he won't have to go.

My boys odnt start until wedsnday, but both are extremely excted to be going back. My youngest knows I "pulled some strings" so he would not have to repeat kindergarten. In all actuallity, I didnt have to do anything; the school board int he new district agreed with my opinion on the matter, that he did not need to be held back.

The "fun" part is going to be seeing how long he last before his first suspension occurs. And no I do not say this cause I have no belief in him, but it is lamost a foregone conclusion that he willg et suspended again as he can nto sit still, and he can not stop stealing. He has also started getting physical with other kids recently (and the state wonders why ia m getting so pushy about his medicaid being reinstated so I can get him the help he needs).

My oldest is absolutely thrilled about starting the third grade, and can nto wait for it to start. He keeps coming up with new questions, like: is my teacher going to be nice? What if I have homework? Will I still be able to eat breakfast at school? and loads of others, lol.

well no major issue with owen going back to school.... I had to bribe him with a candy bar to get him to tuck in his shirt... but no crying or fit when I had to go.

Daniel.... I got a suggestion for you...

Behavioral Modification Therapy.

Good luck.

Tanya, congratulations..... my son was resistant as well and once he found his dudes and got a little girlfriend to eat lunch with... then the birthday parties and the pretty teacher. Well, he likes school now, and is in second grade. It'll get easier. Give it awhile.

good luck to all the parents flowerforyou

first days can be stressful, but kids normally get used to it and it becomes routine for them.

Daniel - I would seek medical help, a kid that threatened/warned that he could get held back in kindergarten, cannot sit still, steals and now is physically abusive towards others.

Florida offers health insurance for kids pricing is on a sliding scale from $10/mo to $X.xx/mo depending on household income.

Well the second day of school... was the crying and clinging fit... as a parent I feel so bad having to pry my child from me and leaving him with the teacher screaming and crying as she is restraining him for running out of the room.

Oh well, I know that as soon as he calms down he'll be ok for the day, but I still hate it.

(((((((((Tanya))))))

Things will get better, really! It's the newness of the situation, but when he gets used to it, he'll do well. The hard part is not giving in or resorting to "bribes" (and I really need to practice what I preach there ohwell ). They do come to expect the bribes and it backfires (experience talking).

But, he and you will both be ok, sooner rather than later, and this will be long forgotten flowerforyou

oh I know... just gets to ya... when they are screaming at the top of their lungs... 'i want my mamma' And its not like he isn't use to being in school... he has been in early headstart and pre-school since he was 3 years old.

Well I have to make some phone calls... I'll be back later.

Thanks suz for the encouragement and kind words! I appreciate it!

My son started 7th grade last Thursday. He was hesitant about it, because he is in different classes then last year. However now that he's in school he isn't so bad. He likes to meet new people.

It helps that there isn't too many people that pick on him since he is one of the biggest kids in school.
