Actually I have to say the government did a much better job this time than they did with Katrina. I'm part of a disaster response team and we got deployed to San Antonio, Kelly Air force base on Saturday. We arrived on Monday, and we were de-activated once they found the storm wasn't going to hit. Actually, I just got back. So FEMA deployed early, having us their before the storm was supposed to hit, rather than a week after like Katrina....

Hey Slant, how did you go to prison for 3 years if your only 18? Were
you in a juvenile facility?

wikipedia is edited and not everything you add to it will go in it.
Also you need to be a member for a certain amount of time before you can
edit it... Also if they do allow something in that they are not sure if
it's accurate or not, or if it's something that's been debated by
professionals, it will also warn you of that.

Hmm... yeah they should implement it more, and not after you get back
from the war either. Not sure how it would work over there... but
around here in the EMS system they have CISD critical incident stress
debriefing for anyone involved in the incident, whatever it may be, and
your supposed to go within 48hrs. It helps people to not crack up and
develop PTSD.

PTSD can also be a buildup of a bunch of little things as well that
don't necessarily give you symptoms right away... I'm not exactly sure
how it's done in the military but isn't there any sort of stress
debriefing or anything like that?

Well there's always good cops and bad cops, but they don't have to abide
by all traffic laws, because they are the ones enforcing them, lol..
Anyways, most of them put up with alot of crap and it can be a tough
job... so.. I give most credit for that.

Hmmm.. depends on what hospital you work at I guess. Who checks the
medications in the ER? They don't come from the pharmacy, especially at
night, not even the infusions that need to be mixed, it's all done by
nurses. The only person who checks a docs order before it gets to the
patient is the nurse, and sometimes they don't even know what the
medication is.... But, they have more medication guides and books and
infusion rate charts than anything I've ever seen so it's pretty
straight forward. Of course mistakes are made, it happens... I've seen
some excellent hospitals and some pretty bad ones too..

My personal experience....

I do have to agree with frank though, that by the end of a 24 hr shift,
you feel like your half asleep anyways... if it's been busy.

Yes if your not clear, rational and calm no one is going to pay
attention to the words you say...

I can understand where Peacekeeper is coming from. He volunteered for
the Army, lots of people do. If no one did, do you think America would
not have an Army? No of course not, if no one volunteered we would have
drafts and force people to join. Not that I'm saying I agree with the
war, anyone who knows me knows that I'm against fighting at all
costs...

Peacekeeper can't control the goverments actions in this war, and he
volunteered to go back again.. cheers on that because that's one less
soul who has to go that doesn't want to. Hopefully you will never have
to fire your weapon on your next deployment, and that you will stay
safe. I'd really like to see this useless war end as soon as possible
and bring our boys and girls home....

I love all your posts and replies in the Current News and Events,
because I can see such a range of ideals and beliefs. It really does
allow you to have a broader aspect on life when you can get some many
different opinions on something. But I know how you feel sometimes it
does seem like you kill the thread lol

Congrats to all of us in here, because no matter left, right or
inbetween the reason we worry about such topics is because we care about
our country!

You know I find that if your just nice and smile at people that it can
make life alot more enjoyable even if for a short period of time.
