I just created a new Philosophy in another thread. You should visit the thread.

http://mingle2.com/topic/show/235513?page=2

What do you think would be the tenents of Realistic Idealism?

I don't know what that means really but this is how I would describe that philosophy.

First, the Idealism is absolutely the basic premise.

"The ultimate nature of reality is based on mind or ideas. It holds that the so-called external or "real world" is inseparable from mind, consciousness, or perception."

Then, comes Neoplatoism which traces back the origin of all existence to .... a place where all life emerged but that turns out to be a place of non-existence, it is just a force... there is nothing there!

So we are not happy about that place and we turn around and come back to our manifested reality which we embrace with loving arms after having seen the darkness of non existence.

Who wants that? Nobody!

So we embrace our reality and call it actuality and we try to forget the nothingness from which we came.

Realistic Idealism!!

sounds like justfiable denial, that is the one i live by. i don't know, i will never know, and i just want a cheeseburger! so leave me alone,...don't forget my cheeseburger, i really want a cheeseburger!

truth is subjective. what is true for one is a lie to another. his tory is a good example. it is written by the victors, from their point of veiw. it is true that we americans liberated a continent from uncivilized heathens. it is also true that we slaughtered a mostly peaceful, and moral indigenous population to satisfy corporate greed. it all depends on your point of view.

You are probably right on the highest level of understanding that this entire reality is subjective itself.

But if you want to claim that something is "real" you have to agree to an objective reality.

If truth is subjective, then so is this reality. This reality is just a dream or a point of view created by the mind, projected as a three dimensional holographic world of time and space. Nothing is real.

Is that what you are suggesting?

no, i'm saying that what one person believes to be the truth is not always agreed to by everyone. so, what you perceive as truth, may only be your opinion. religion is a good example. how many say that they are the only real one, and all others are false. they can't all be right, it is possible that none are right. yet they all claim the truth. by the way, i do believe that what we call reality could all just be an illusion. if you cannot prove anything, how can you be sure of the truth of anything. that is why we have, philosophy, to try to understand what is behind the nature of everything. it is not perfect, but that is why philosophers don't think that they solve the problem, they just try to advance our understanding.

i don't know, but i have come to the following conclusions. a) there are no gods, and humans invented the concept to comfort the greiving, and control the masses. b) there are many gods. or c) there is only one god and everyone only worships one aspect of said entity, and are willing to kill, or destroy those who don't beleive as they do. will we ever know? maybe at the end, but so far, noone has come back to tell.

Never mind honey. I will just use the 109 millimeter howitzer in the garage.
i think you mean 105mm. that was the main gun on the m60a3 tank that i was on in the army back in the 80's. that'll fix that pesky coon, and the bird bath, and the yard, and possibly the house!rofl

atlantis, i read the article, and i'm not surprised, that it is happening, or that it is not national news. this is the beginning of a financial war, and unfortunately, i have the sinking feeling that we are not going to fare well if the entire globe is against us. how long will they wait before they come looking for their money with more than an outstretched hand? one can only hope to be dead before then, or to have quite a large supply of ammo. i already have the ammo. they say no man is an island, i wonder if that holds true for countries. what will our country be if they stop trading with us entirely? we don't make anything here( try looking, it is not easy)but food. and without oil, we wont have much of that. tractors have only gotten bigger since we had the farm, and they don't run on happy smiles. our country sits upon only an estimated 2-3% of the oil reserves on the planet, and how long will it last if our credit is gone? printing more bills is fiscal suicide. the american dream is not dead, but we need to start living in the real world, and living within our means, if it isn't too late already.

peta is a group of domestic terrorists. they use terror tactics and practice violent criminal behavior, they should be treated like the terrorists they are. to protest and stand up for what you believe is admirable, but trespass, and assault cannot be condoned.

our economy was great, because it was based on an abundance of good paying manufacturing jobs. with the implementation of the global free trade agreements, those jobs were unceremoniously exported to the third world, where the wages are a tiny fraction of here. corp. profits explode, while american real wages have stagnated, or fallen. it took a while, but we reached the tipping point, where incomes didn't meet rising prices, and the defaults began. we cannot have the economy that we had before as a service economy. the ones who produce the goods are the ones with the power. after ww2, we had most of the global factories, every one else was bombed into oblivion. so the 50's, and 60's were a magical time for us. but as manufacturing was being rebuilt in the rest of the world, we didn't care. so we weren't worried when the first agreements started, more markets for our products, right? but when we rolled over for china, that was the end, we just didn't realize it. so, until we repeal these unpatriotic laws, no president can do much. my father didn't graduate from high school, but found a job as a machinist, and made a very good living. his job is in china now. thankfully he didn't live to see it. can an individual make enough to raise a family now, without a diploma? don't bet on it. a degree isn't even a guarantee.
