yay Mount Union Purple Raiders!

what? lol mount union? what about them?

you know how much it costs to go to mount union?

78,000...for one year surprised

my brother has 2 national championship rings.

Best college football program in the country, bar none. A guy I used to work with for years, his oldest son attended Mt. Union & played linebacker. He was an All-American. He is now the head coach at Massillion Washington. His name is Jason Hall.

Billy, are you sure about the yearly cost? My 2nd son attended a Division III school in Ohio & it was nowhere near that much.

My brother played left tackle until her blew out his knee. I don't know how much he paid to go there though.

Sorry to hear about your brothers' early exit from football.

I know that Jason worked on campus to help defray the costs. The college is pretty good about helping out the athletes who needed it.

David Byron. Former lead singer for Uriah Heep. This group had amazing vocal harmony for a rock band. Here's a link to a performance. This song is from their "Demons & Wizards" album.

I have not seen the latest Gundam series yet. I should get on that. But I don't think anything could top Gundam Wing IMO drinker

You're right. Gundam Wing was/is really good. The current version is not bad.

Good luck with that. I have found that the typical mingle person doesn't usually cruise the local threads, if any at all. I think they think that the "mingle matches" are going to do all of the work for them. I found dialoging with folks in the forums/threads has been more productive & fun.

It seems the participation in the local threads is particularly bad here in C-bus. I have tried a couple of times to get some forum going & they died big time. Don't know if I wasn't weird enough, young enough or what.

The first account we have of the devil is found in that purely scientific book called Genesis, and is as follows: "Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made, and he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden; but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die. For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her, and he did eat.And the Lord God said Behold the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil; and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life: and eat, and live forever. Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the Garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. So he drove out the man, and he placed at the east of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a flaming sword, which turned every way to keep the way of the tree of life."

According to this account the promise of the devil was fulfilled to the very letter, Adam and Eve did not die, and they did become as gods, knowing good and evil.

As he often does Satan spoke to Adam & Eve in 1/2 truths. No they didn't die immediately, but eventually they did die. And our world has been suffering ever since. And merely knowing the difference between good & evil wouldn't have made them "gods". Having that knowledge plus possessing eternal life would have put them that much closer.

In the original Hebrew, that snake was just a snake.

If that were so, then why did God make a vow that 1 day an offspring of the Hebrew Nation (Jesus) would rise-up to crush the head of the serpent & that the serpent would strike his heel. Death on the cross at Calvary. His resurrection from the grave was the crushing blow. God doesn't vow vengeance on an ordinary snake.

As many have correctly stated the O-T doesn't specifically mention "hell". But it still had their version called sheol. It was considered amongst the Hebrews to be what we would call hell, if they had been abandoned to the grave or sheol & called to be with Yahweh. A gray shadowy world of nothingness. To a Hebrew to be absent from the presence of Yahweh would have been hell. Just because it's not specifically mentioned doesn't mean they didn't have the concept. Here's a link:

http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/view.jsp?letter=S&artid=614

As far as the N-T, only the mentioning of the subject of money out numbers of times Jesus talks about the concept of hell or "Eternal Punishment". Being the Creator God no one would know better than He about the horrors of being sent there. There are so many misconceptions about the whole death & hell issue. For instance, hell is NOT where Satan dwells. It was created to be his place of eternal punishment & since judgment hasn't been passed on him he's free to roam where he may until he is finally cast into the pit forever, Revelation 20:7. Hell is also not where wayward souls are sent when they die, again because final judgment has not occurred.

If you want to read a chilling account of the passing of someone who didn't live a life according to God's desires, read the parable of the rich man & Lazarus. It also gives insight to what happens to those who are found worthy of God's mercy. This parable was different from other parables told by Jesus because He specifically mentions names & more details than in others. Luke 16:19-31.

Whoa there Cowboy. You are assuming quite a bit of non-sense that is not in evidence to support your argument.

First of all - there's nothing demonstratable that needs 10 billion years to accomplish - and where did that number come from? Did you decide to use a nice big round number?

Where are you getting the idea that God used evolution to do anything? Perhaps it is an issue of semantics. You say "Evolution is real", I say - had you said "De-evolution is real", we'd have a basis for agreement. Otherwise, you have stated no valid premises to support your conclusions.

And this "overwhelming evidence" you speak of. Please name just ONE thing for me that is not a subjective conclusion completely devoid of empirical evidence.

The suggestion that God used evolution is in the first post. That was the question.

As for the overwheling evidence that evolution is real all you need to do is watch life forms with a very short life span. For example, flys taken into space lose their wings in only a few generations. They no longer need them in a zero the gravity enviroment.

Evolution is also why we need a new flu shot each year. The virus keeps evolving.

If you want more I suggest you read a few good books on the subject. "The Blind Watchmaker" by Richard Dawkins would be a good place to start. He lays it all out clearly and even goes into all the arguments that disagree with him.

Wnat more? How about this debate between Richard Dawkins and Francis Collins from TIME mag.

http://www.time.com/time/printout/0,8816,1555132,00.html

And don't call me cowboy.

You are talking about micro-evolution & I don't disagree with you about the adaptation effect. What you didn't address is macro-evolution. Even though the flies no longer produced wings, because they didn't need them, they were still FLIES. Not something else farther up the food chain.

Deal with the question at hand, not dodging it like like a J-W at your door who can't explain their position about who Jesus really is.

Earlier posters who dissed 4 Non Blonds & Midnight Oil as 1 hit wonders obviously don't regularly listen to an alternative music channel. The Blonds also had Spaceman, Bless the Beast & Children & Dear Mr. President amongst others. They had more success across the pond. I did find 1 link for Spaceman.

Midnight Oil also had Blue Sky Mining, Power & the Passion, Forgotten Years, Red Sails in the Sunset & others.

Many moons ago an under-aged friend & I smuggled in some long neck brewski's for consumption at a Styx, Sweet & Eric Carmen (formerly of the Raspberries) concert. I think we each had 2 or 3 a piece. Trying to sit down with those stuck in your jeans with any comfort was a major challenge. So we pulled a couple out & place them on the floor in front of us. The seating was like any you find in a movie theater, with a tilt to the floor. And just like the recent beer commercial, 1 of us knocked 1 over during a lull in the action & you could hear the bottle rolling & then all of a sudden crash into the back support of 1 of the chairs farther down in front of us. We looked at each other & at 1st it was, oh crap & then we started laughing our azz's off & relocated the remaining bottles to prevent any more loses.

BTW. That was 1 of the loudest concerts I've ever attended. We were located about 15 rows back of this monstrous stack of speakers stage right. & after the concert we literally couldn't hear because of the ringing in our ears that lasted for several hours.

Anytime someone remembers my man Stevie Ray, it makes my day. I saw him & Double Trouble in '89. That concert still touches my soul.

I saw Freddie M. & the boys twice.

I saw The Man in Black once.

Brad Delp of Boston fame hasn't been mentioned.

I thinks it's great that everyone has mentioned all of these musical artist, but my question to you would be; which of the many mentioned actually touched you where you live?
