Anything they choose to force upon customers at your favorite retail store. I find it amazing that I cannot walk into a Hastings or Best Buy and not hate the music regardless of what genre it is. Its been my experience that most tattoed pierced guys like to party and use drugs. Especially if they're in to metal. And before I get flamed for invoking a stereotype, I've been a diehard metal head since I was 17, I play guitar and hang out with musicians and other metal heads. I'm the only sober person I know and the only one that doesn't especially like to party. Of course it doesn't help that I live in New Mexico and this state makes more money from pot than from anything legitimate, lol

Check out early to mid Porcupine Tree, Doves, and the Gathering. Not sure if you'll like them but they all mix ambient electronica with varying degrees of rock.

Take it from someone that's had a stalker. If the guy you're trying to get rid of has even a glimmer of hope he'll latch onto it tooth and nail. If being nice doesn't work, be cruel. Be cold. Be painfully obvious. Do whatever you have to to get the message across. He probably won't start stalking you if you don't, but he's also not likely to disappear unless you hurt his feelings intentionally.

When I was in marching band in high school we got to do extra work for a movie (can't remember the title, our scene didn't make it in anyway). It was a parade scene and would have been fine... except they stuck us behind the horses.

So a lot of these bands aren't going to fit strictly into the death metal genre... but it has so many subcategories these days I simply refer to anything really heavy and aggressive with screamed vocals as death metal.
