That's why we have Law Enforcement.I also have strong feelings on this subject myself but the law is the law black & white.U could of spent up to 24 hrs in jail or a wkd & charged w/ A&B plus fines.(jmo)

Yeah...that's just completely wrong. If the law was black and white, we wouldn't have trial by jury. grumble

The Walmart probably has a tape of it and it should be handed over to authorities. All you have to do is file a compliant and have the detective assigned to the case go to the Walmart and have a look through the surveillance tapes. If they'd do it for a box stolen from the back of my car, they'll do it for a kid getting smacked around.

While slugging him might have felt good, it won't stop him from doing it again. Get that kid some support!

yes i could have got a ride to jail, but I didnt and I told the cops that came every thing
CAn I hear the WHOLE story from ya???

The reason I ask is because LIFE is funny that way..

WHOEVER you walked up and punched, COULD,,,and WOULD press chares on you for THAT assault. End of story.
He could NOT have been arrested for smacking ANYONE w/o THEM pressing charges?

And if YOU were the only witness to HIS ACT, then YOU might be ask if YOU wanted to MAKE a statement for a later act by you or them to CFS. And they would have the legal ability to arrest him for a smack to his boy even if the boy was'nt his?

This SOUNDS like a good story,,and IT makes YOU look like ya done THE RIGHT THING,,,but im still trying to feel like I was there to see and feel the whole event.
But lots of PIECES missing here???? drinker

Forget the trouble you could have gotten into ... even though the child didn't see violence is NEVER ok ! Considering the authorities had already been called you should have let them handle it ... it's not your job to dish out punishment as you see fit . I don't think your actions were any better than the abusers .

Just my opinion though .

i agree, completely.

you put yourself on the guy's level when you hit him...all you did was teach that kiddo that it IS okay to hit others.

stop the abuse, call the police...but don't punch him out.

if you were in MY wal-mart, chances are we'd've had you arrested.

I imagine you were just so taken aback by what you saw that you reacted from the heart. It's hard to THINK when you are in a fight or flight situation. I hope nothing bad comes of it as you did assault him, but in protection of a minor, so you may be let off the hook. It's up there with the question someone had on here the other day... If you saw a man with a knife trying to mug someone, would you get into the melee to help? We often don't know how we will respond when something like that comes to us out of the blue. So, you did what you did, and hopefully, if something like that happens again, you will already have the experience to know how to handle it in a more appropriate manner. And, sometimes, hate to say it, some people deserve to get decked, Orange Cat. flowerforyou

I once had a guy try to snatch my daughter out of my ex wifes arms when she was 6 months old.

I beat the guy to a pulp and let him lay in the parking lot. Sorry, violence does come in to play sometimes...

I have no remorse to that, None...He is lucky I didnt kill him

was at walmart walking by some guy who outta no where just back hands his son,at least I think it was his son,the idiot hit em so hard made him fall down and back a few steps.

so I broke the guys nose, and was sure to let him know why.

ok just wondering what u all thought,I dont think I was in the wrong at all but my thoughts.
I am not one for child abuse,am very much against it

He deserved it... But combating violence with violence probably isn't the best mix; for the child. A child should not be abused, there is a huge difference between a smack and a spanking so on principle flowerforyou .

THank you sir! drinker

I acutally blacked out because of my rage. We were in a Target parking lot and they had video and the whole thing was on tape...

When the medics got their at first they thought he was dead. Honestly? I was hoping he was...Those are the kind of people that should be wiped from society

I support you fully OC

Hopefully he will think next time before trying that again

Some think it's okay to hit a small child when they are wrong

But it's not okay to hit an adult when they are wrong?

Thats BS...he deserved it 150%
