everyone chooses what they do. You cannot say a person is not free just because they dont live in america. They have the choice to live where ever they want - where there is a will there is a way.

Psychology 101: Autistic people do not choose to tap their fingers/hands and wave them about. We just do without thinking! Then those of us with ADHD don't choose to get distracted or loose things, we do. If you say someone is free, they're dead. Think on that one ;)

Spartan, the God you speak of is not the God I know.
The God I know and serve is a just God.

Abra, now that you have shared more about your background, it sounds like your mom knew and loved this just God too.
But ,It is only your own perception and unbelief , that allows you to not see the truth about who God really is.

Before ,I thought perhaps you were just exposed to religion...hence the unbelif on your part.
But now, I think you have been exposed to the real and loving and just God,and not just religion... but just are not willing to accept Him for some reason.

Perhaps you blame God for decisions you made with your life?
Perhaps you unconciously are angry at Him ,also ?

When I was an Atheist, I hated it when people tried to label me as angry. I wasn't, just mislead. You can take a camel to water but you can not make them drink!

I didn't read the whole thread but i would like to ask what rules you believe are 'unjust' that God has laid out for us?
The only rules that he said that mattered were
1. Love your neighbor as yourself,
2. Love the Lord your God with all your heart?

What's unjust?

Totally agree, but a lot of people think that is where it ends...bringing a camel to water. But i believe it has to go farther..you have to jump in. And then they see how much fun you can have and WANT to join. JMHO.

Well it all depends. The camel might not drink still. And they might not be able to see you have fun because they are blind, or distracted by other things. Some people (like Autistics) don't have fun in social environments. We can see people have fun but we're more annoyed than anything.

That's when a little discernment comes into play. Even Autistics have things they like to do for fun...The pool was an analogy for life not meant to be taken literally.

Yes but our idea of fun is different, and it has to be timed right. Otherwise we're just annoyed. But no matter what the analogy is: People aren't always on your wave length. You have to find theirs (if it's even possible, for some) and take it down brick by brick.

And for Abra and perhaps some others here...

A lot of times,UnForgiveness in our lives, is at the root cause of unbelief in God.

But Once we forgive that someone in our lives, who left us or hurt us in some way, then healing comes ......and afterwards, our healed hearts and lives usually takes on a whole new perspective and outlook on God, also .

Just because one does not believe in the descriptions of 'God' which Christians believe in does not necessarily make them either, unforgiving nor an unbeliever in a greater life force...

I would think that unforgiveness is more likely a sign of troublesome things left unresolved within a person's psyche. This may or may not be an accurate indication regarding their likelihood to believe in Christianity's version of 'God'...

We were all born with the belief that freedom is the only way of life - I personally believe this to be true. I think we could all agree that freedom is a basic human right. We all live by rules but ones we agree with or at least can live with. When we come across a rule we absolutely cannot live by we simply dont live by it. People give their lives and wars are started over that simple principle. Anyone living in this country would also agree that freedom does not exist where there is absolute power. So why, I ask, do some people worship a god with absolute power and absolute rules, some of which are not just, that result in ones eternal suffering if broken?

Just because someone has absolute power doesn't mean people wouldn't want to live under him. Kings had absolute power, and some kings were loved by their people. Examples include King David and King Solomon.

As for an all powerful God. They are not much of a God if they are not all powerful. As for eternal suffering, not all Christians believe that. I have even heard Catholic priests that don't believe hell is a place of eternal suffering but actually the lowest level of purgatory.

This country used to be founded on that idea. Then Lincoln got into power and turned it upside down.

God sends NO one to hell( a place of being cut off from God ) .
Remember ...God gave man a FREE WILL to CHOOSE and MAKE DECISIONS on his own.

For God to send some one to hell, would be like God overridding man's free will to CHOOSE for himself.
But God does NOT do that.

But what God DOES DO Is....
because of His Loving Tender Kindness and Patience Towards Man...

God Will
REPEATEDLY
Gives man a Chance to get to KNOW Him.....and ACCEPT His Free Gift of Grace To man thru Jesus Christ .....
That Gift that Saves man....

And Because God Loves man SOOOOO MUCH
God Will Try to Reach man

even til man's last dying breath
will God still try to reach man...

even
if man were on a backside of a desert
will God STILL try to reach man...

simply cause God Loves man that much
and God simply wants man
whom He created
to spend All eternity with HIM
that's all....

cause God misses His creation....

but even though God LOVES man SOOOOO MUCH...
God STILL WILL NOT FORCE
man to ACCEPT Him.......
cause God gave man a FREE WILL
TO CHOOSE
WHERE man wants to spend all Eternity...

Either
WITH GOD
or WITHOUT GOD
Man's choice.

So YES....
God will allow man to choose NOT to accept Him
and spend eternity cut off from God (hell.)
But NO...
God does NOT send man to hell...EVER.....

Man sends HIMSELF there
by REJECTING God.

MorningSong...

Which Bible are you reading? I would like to see this backed up by scripture... or logical reason(s)...

If 'God' gives one the choice, and 'God' knows all, and 'God' created all, then 'God' created this hell also...

And assuming that some will go to this hell, then 'God' who knows all would already know this will happen, in the future, of course...

Therefore this all-knowing 'God' would not waste it's time on an endeavor in which the outcome is already determined... An all-knowing 'God' would not waste it's time on a fruitless adventure... would it?

Sometimes I just cannot make any sense out of what some proclaim to be the case...

Choice is never free from causual affect... NEVER...
