Topic: What have we gotten out of five years of war in Iraq? | |

wiccan is a soldier and he deserves the respect of that post in my eyes, he and I do not agree completely but I will not disrespect him in anyway. And he is a sweetheart to boot None of your business there though. I am not trying to inflame anyone. I share my point of view and it has as much value as yours. |

I'm a soldier and I refuse to touch this with a 12-foot pole...But I will agree with Wiccan on this one...

wrong dragon breath, with sadamm they had nothing, like you have between your ears actually dragon breath was right, under Saddam's dictator ship all that you listed was already there, he was trying very hard to mimic the western way of life. Burkas and long beards where prohibited, neighboring Iran hated him as he was the only person preventing the wide spread infiltration of terrorism across the middle east... Now that the US in its infinite wisdom disposed of the despot that they placed there to begin with, Al-Queda is free to spread its anti-American hate in one more country. |

Shaw~ this is so not directed at you. What i think we have gotten is this: 843 million threads about people complaining about the war. I say stop complaining if you have no viable solution. I'm sick of it... and sick of hearing people whining, moaning, and groaning over it. It's so annoying. I mean, why focus on negativity and arguing over minutia details every fifteen minutes? Cutting and pasting articles and blog crapola... Don't you have real issues in your lives to worry about~ ones that you might actually have some control over? STOP IT!!! Wow.... that was cleansing. And thank you for mentioning this. Battles must be fought by soldiers. Finances must be addressed by acountants. Just like cars must be fixed by mechanics. This rule only applies if you want things done right. Most of those that post the threads about this stuff know little about stratigical thinking and have never been in a combat environment. (I emphasize MOST) |

I also have a hard time believe that Iraq was a utopia before we invaded. Yes, we destroyed. But we rebuilt. And now they are even better taken care of. At least medically. And we are giving them food left and right. So to say the the common folk of Iraq are worse off now is uneducated. Although maybe all those folks i talked to lied to me out of fear... But i would still believe them before i believed CNN, or ABC, etc. And i also believe what i saw with my own two eyes. Even if it disagrees with the media.

bin laden is miserable - probably held up in a cave somewhere completely powerless to do nothing but watch his terroist buddies die in Iraq. |

Bin Laden is powerless? Really now? A terrorist network doesn't just go away, kind of like the mafia. Lose a leader someone is there to pick up and move, although if memory serves correctly they haven't even lost their leader. I will say good has been done in Iraq, but all for nothing if the one we initially went for is still roaming. This will all come back again and hit us harder, and if not us then the allied countries. One or the other, this will not be the end.

NU posted:
i am sorry dragon but you are here only to inflame people with your views, do you live in a cave like bin laden?? Sorry I have to disagree with this statement. This would be more accurate: "I am sorry Dragon, but you are here only to inflame people with your cut/paste postings, spewing of nonsensical drivel, and plagiarized views, of which you have demonstrated little to no *direct and relevant* knowledge of such plagiarized views." Still may be a little off - but think it is much more in line with Dragon's typical post. |

I will admit i wonder where Binladen went as well. Doesn't mean i think we should just dump and run on Iraq.

I will admit i wonder where Binladen went as well. Doesn't mean i think we should just dump and run on Iraq. I agree. But there should be an exit strategy for Iraq. So far, only Barack Obama has proposed one. Hillary and John McCain have none. |

Certainly when one's country is bombed into the dark ages any relief is going to be welcomed...and the conquering heroes are always going to be way more advanced than the rubble they leave in their wake... Saddam was no hero, no humanitarian, in fact he was a monster and ironically the only thing preventing terrorist groups like Al Queda from entering his country. He was put into power and then removed by the United States...it was a mess then and it continues to be a mess now... |

bin laden is miserable - probably held up in a cave somewhere completely powerless to do nothing but watch his terroist buddies die in Iraq. He is free and that is too much. Iraqis have paid for bin ladens sins against us with their lives and he still lives. bin laden is a man without a country. All he can do for the rest of his life is hide in a remote cave somewhere in an area that's almost uninhabitable.. Let's just say he's free in his own hell. Iraqis are out from under the brutal hand of saddam. They are not paying for bin laden's sins. Go back and read all the UN resolutions that saddam violated and about his invasion of Kuwait. The man had to be stupid - all he had to do was let the UN unspectors in. He makes Khadafi look like a genious! Iraqis, like Americans are paying the price for freedom! |

You know, it's all just super the things that have been done to "rebuild" or "better" Iraq. Now who will rebuild the U.S.?

Wow.... that was cleansing. my hero dnag it dave I agree...too bad the American people and their elected representatives didnt show some backbone when it mattered and stop the maddness of king George before he went ape-$hit in the middle east...as for now...well as you sow, so shall you reap, I guess... Too late complaining about it. Just mop up the mess as best as you can and cut your losses before more innocent people die. |

I have been through Baghdad, Sadre City, and Mosul. I just want you guys to know, yes there is some damage, but to say we bombed them back into the stone age would be a bit of an exaggeration. To be honest they are allowed to have more technology now then they used to. I remember meeting a couple farmers that were happy for the use of cell phones (for example) |
