I don't believe in worrying about anything I have no control over. The end times or Armageddon would be one of those.

If we matter or don't matter has nothing to do if time will end or not. It's relative. If time is supposed to end, it will end either way.

But first you must clarify about what you mean by time. Do you mean the end of existence? Are you proposing time and existence are dependent on each other? Or time dependent on existence?

Time has always been and will always be dependent on existence, without time existence doesn't have a point. No time equals no existence.

Not true. Time does not exist. This is a fact. Time is completely Dependant on the movement of bodies through space.
It is part of a measurement that is used to locate an event within a time space environment.

Like I said Time is dependent on man (existence), without man time has no existence and therefore is bound to nothing.

I have always liked fear. He's been very nice to me and I can enjoy his dry sense of humor because that's all it is...to make people laugh and think

Do I worry about my existance on Earth? part of me does because I don't want anything to happen to my loved ones. but because of my believes (and they are just my beliefs so don't try telling me I'm wrong for them) I believe I will see them again. It's more of the fear of the unknown to me. I flip/flop

I would never discourage belief's they are yours for a reason. That is an honest statement and I have nothing more to comment on it, so, cheers!drinker

There are arguments that are very convincing that suggest time is a separate entity from existence and movement. Most famously Einsteins Space Time Continuum.

Do you guys have an argument for this idea that time is dependent (like a property or a quality for example) on movement and change? Or is that just what you believe without any reason?

Truly I believe that time is existent because of movement and change, without the two time is non-existent. Hence my point.

As I said earlier there is a theory (based heavily in metaphysics) that time as we know it is merely a perception and that perception is viewed opposite of the reality (much like how the human eye really receives images and they are flipped in the human mind.) But it is just a theory, right? bigsmile

Thats great. But WHY does time not exist without movement and change?

Quite simple I think, it doesn't. Without man to calculate time from sun to sun time does not in fact exist, the end of time is the end of days, thus the end of man.

It's what I believe due to man's current miscalculations of numerous events, I have no choice but to believe that hopefully we all see an end soon.

very true but there are times I do worry about what I can't change (in my nature). I do worry about not being able to hold my loved ones like I can now, but I hope there is an after life (like I believe) to see them again. Just worry about the unknown. plus if I didn't worry...i would be me laugh

Human nature to worry about things, regardless of if your choice matters in the end. I truly do hope that there is an after-life that you can see your loved one's in when the time comes, however I don't personally believe in such a thing I do hope my belief is incorrect.

Ah, but the only reason you think that is because we are unable to measure time without motion.

Lets say everything in the universe stopped moving, everything stopped changing, the movement of the planets, the sun, every molecule was frozen, would time not pass until it becomes unfrozen?

Ok feel free to completely shoot this down as I am more than slightly inebriated right now but here goes...

Here is my theory:

We are all a part of the universe and the universe itself is exploring itself in the age old question of "Why Am I Here?" so each of us as part of that same universe is a result of the universe probing that question. In essence we are all a part of the same being exploring itself and the sum of our experiences totaled together will result in the answer to that age old question. We are all part of the same being looking to perfect itself and the only way that being can do that is through repeated trial and error (us and pretty much any other life form or physical being in existence.)
