Topic: Arguements about beliefs

here again a thread saying we should all have the right to our beliefs is turning into an arguement. Non chrsitians are just as guilty of this as chrisitans

You view everything as an argument. A discussion is not an argument. If we do not discuss our points of view and ask questions, then what is the whole point of a forum?

But you don't you judge........you put me in a box...And a question for you? How is it exactly that a Christian should dress? or act? or be? I think if you did a lil searching it is by example and no one on jsh would say that I don't lead by example......get a clue bean....

This is truly my honest take on this subject once again.

I say believe whatever gets you through the day....But anyone calls my God a myth, or his Son or the Bible a myth then you will get a fight from me each and every time....Because as I believe that anyone can believe as they wish...So can I. And once again this is not to say the either Father God or Jesus Christ need me to stick up for them....they don't....because as usual I am sure I will get a comment about this. But it's in my "being" to do so. As my pastor says I am a pitbull when it comes to The Father, The Son, The Bible.......

Thats my story.....always has been, and always will stick to it.

That is very nice of you. But how many people actually come up to you and directly speak to you about how your god is a myth? Has anyone knocked on your door lately with pamphlets telling you that the Bible and its teachings are a myth and not to be concerned with the end of the world rumor they are spreading? I doubt it. I get knocks on my door all the time from Mormans, Jehovah witnesses, and the church lady from next door "inviting" me to their church.

I have heard about Christianity, its hard to miss, I don't need it brought to my door.

One question for you. Its about your Icon picture. Is showing a woman's butt typical of a church going God fearing Christian? And icons of the past, the sexy lips... mmmmm. It just does not project a relgious theme. Just wondering who you are trying to seduce.

Actually alot of them come to my door also....That is how I ended up studying with and learning about alot of different religions....including Jehovah Witnesses. Who now are very good friends of mine. And no quit frankly the only people I have say that God, Jesus and the Bible are a myth are the athiests and the panthiests.....And if your not cordial to these peeps and have the same attitude you seem to have hear...I honestly feel sorry for you...Because if you can't handle others and them bringing to you...and just nicely decline or say you believe in something else....well that seems to be an issue within yourself.....

And except for the church lady next door....Christians don't have to go door to door as the Jehovah Witnesses and Mormons do....because we know that getting to heaven is not through works......It's only through grace.

And as far as my pic.....you know it's a perfect example of putting us in a box...There is nothing wrong with that pic in the least...I am a 48 year old woman...and believe it or not I am also a sexual being......OMG no way.....(Christians are not allowed) And once again...hmmmmmm who is judging who..........I would suggest a look in the mirror before you cast that stone. And trying to seduce...OMG give me a break and get your mind out of the gutter.

My question was not how many Jehovah's witnesses or Mormons or other Christians came to you door. We all get those.

My questions specifically, how many atheists or pantheist do you see at your door with pamphlets? I have never seen any.

And yes I have an opinion and question you by how you express yourself in your icon picture. (We are all "sexual beings." )

But I don't think you would show your ass to your church congregation, so why show a picture as your icon that is doing it. I still wonder what you are trying to express or project and who you are trying to seduce. If you don't want to tell me that is your choice.

JB

It is not #1 me....It's a cute cartoon and if you can take that and make it as dirty as you are that is your gig.....It was never intended to seduce anyone.....Its a fun picture....thats it....so again get you nasty mind out of the gutter.......I have not got one negative or actually comment at all....until you....hmmmmmm why does that not surprise me......Maybe because all the other ppl here know me......

Dress and act and be whatever and however you choose, but realize that all people will size you up in three seconds when they first see you. What you project, makes an impression. You are obviously consciously projecting what you want to project. We cannot see you in person. All we see is the picture you project in your Icon. I am a visual person, and an artist. I understand the messages sent by pictures and colors. I am a tarot card reader, that is also all about visual impressions.

You talk a good Christian talk, but what do you project visually? I wonder how you dress in public.

I can't put you in a box. If you are in a box, you put yourself there.

gee golly willikers, are you for real, if someone sums a person up from a pic or av, how narrow minded is that.
I know the one you dribble on about, she is a warm, loving, caring lady and blessed by the God she/we happen to believe in.
if i had to wonder about your image from some writing, which one cant do either, i would see evil and darkness, and a lost soul with no hope, or love or kindness but i cant assume anything from writings here anymore than you can or anyone from a pic or av. gee, gonna go find intelligent conversation in another thread

I am just telling it how I see it. I don't have a "nasty" mind. I wouldn't care if people all went naked. I just know the power of images and what they express to others. If that is how you want to express yourself, it is really all right with me, I just found it conflict with some Christian thoughts on sex. I once went to a church that forbade dancing as a sin which I thought was rather excessive. I love to dance.

I see nothing wrong with strippers. Dancing and the nude body is beautiful. I think I would be surprised to see a preachers wife doing it, but oh well.. each to his own. It could happen I guess.

I am sure she is a warm, loving, caring lady. But her icon picture does not express that. Sorry, it just doe not.

Why would you see evil and darkness from my picture?

One can assume anything they want and they can be wrong. Let me be clear: People get first impressions when they see you. Everyone does this. It only take three seconds to make a first impression.

On a forum you have only your words and your icon to express yourself. Thats it. Nothing much else.

My picture is the Queen of Coins, and is a Tarot Card design. If you see evil it is probably because you have been told that tarot cards are evil or that the pentacle is evil. Or maybe it is the color red? Who knows.

Everybody constantly repeats the notion that people can't judge or shouldn't judge or shouldn't make judgments, but they all do. They are lying if they say they don't.

Yes you do and yes you can. This is my opinion.

Everybody does.

Impressions, judgments, opinions, perceptions, etc. Everybody has them. It is what makes us all different.

Jeannie,

Regardless whether or not one chooses to belief it of themselves or not, we all judge regularly, to some extent. We judge simply by placing value onto whatever it is that we experience.

It is when one wrongly assumes by placing more value onto their own perceptive abilities rather than adopting the child-like humility and eagerness required to learn something that is valuable yet possibly contrary to what one has already accepted as truth, that one can miss out on that which enables a better understanding.

I personally, have been told many times here, what my feelings were and/or intent was... disturbingly so, those do not see themselves under the same scope.

The fingerprint of this world robs one from themself, incorruptably so, as long as it is perceived through itself.

Really? A stripper pole? WOW! I am impressed.

If you have a stripper pole then you are alright in my book.drinker

No need to be sad for me, but thanks. I am a deeply spiritual and joyful person. I am just trying to get to know you for who you are and look past our differences in the area of our religious beliefs. I am quite glad to discover that you are not the typical uptight judgemental "church lady" I am used to seeing.

All I want to do is to get to know people past first impressions and the masks they wear or the fronts they put up.

When you get to know the real person I think you can find the love and respect for them that they truly deserve and you can look past first impressions and judgments. That is why I challenge people. I want to know them. I want to know who they truly are.

Sounds like a good idea. I used to take belly dancing lessons and I am thinking about taking it up again. I love the costumes and the bangles and music. I have a tape to get me started.

My dance teacher was a woman who could do the splits and throw two swords up into the air and catch them. She was quite amazing.

What I have learned is that too many times we identify with our beliefs. That is, we think that is what we are. If that were true, I am not who I used to be, because I have changed my core belief system at least twice in this life. But amazingly I am still the same person.

Spider:

You read so many things into others words that you must live in a reality of your own making. One does not "reject" anything unless it has been perceived that it is being shoved at them.

We seek truth, we don't reject it. If I seek something and someone tries to shove something at me and tell me that it is what I seek, and I have determined that it is not what I seek, then perhaps I can be said to reject it if they keep shoving it at me.

Abra is does not hate Christians. I wish you would get that strait. He rejects only the ones who approach with the attitude that they are right, that they are trying to save him, etc etc. It is an insult to his wise intelligence. It is condescending.

I wish you could see that.

JB

If you do not accept a belief in toto, then you reject the belief in toto. Abra says he was a Christian for 40 years, but isn't any longer. Therefore, he rejects Christianity as a whole. Abra might adopt some Christian beliefs, but he does not (according to him) accept Christianity as the truth. There is NO INSULT intended by that. I'm simply stating the facts of the situation. STOP trying to find reasons to be insulted by what I say, just read what I post.

I was a non-Christian for almost my whole life. I met a little intolerance from Christians, but very little. I KNOW that those who cry foul of how terrible Christians are to them are exaggerating their experiances. It's that simple. I lived in the Bible belt as a non-Christian, so I'm not falling for the "Christians are so intolerant" belief. There is a little bit out there, but it's far more likely to meet tolerant, nice Christians.

I wish that you could see that not everyone has the same experiences that you do. I worked for a state agency where the Director was Church of Christ. Wow shockingly within a few years the 2 deputy directors and 5 of 8 managers were church of christ. New hires no longer came from lists but were brought in as temps and then converted to permanent employees. They were ALL church of christ. Every meeting was started with a prayer to jesus christ. It was uncomfortable for me and I chose to leave.

I don't feel like going into a litany of unpleasant incidents but the christians I saw as a child were pretty scary. Hellfire and brimstone. Ugg.

I for one being Jewish, believe that any one shuold have the right to believe in anything the want. They should have the right to praay to what ever god or gods the choose to pray to. They should be abl eto worhip arock if they want to and no one should shove anything down another human's throat.
We all are free moral agents witha mind that can think. If one chooses to believe in a a lie that has been taught to them. Then that is their right as ahuman being.
I dont want to see anyone in hell.Yet that is only wishful thinking.I live in reality.
I am a frim believer that all humans have right to die lost and spend an eternity ina burning lake of fire.
It is everyone's choice.
Let sjust say that enternity is a long time to be wrong.

Hmmm. Never heard Sally Fields say that one but, interesting!

I also wanted to say, no argument(s), radio!

And, if you find faults with any of my posts anywhere, feel free to tell me (preferably privately). Maybe I'd need to adjust fire. And I'd like to know what you might think, at any rate, whether we agree or not.

I think that God gives us the freedom to believe (or not) what we want and gives us the right to be what we're going to be (tho I also believe he has influence there, whether we realize it or not).

I believe life's better for me with him than without him. But I can't dictate to you or judge you personally. That's for you to do, and that can be for God to do and I don't wanna put either of you out of a job!
