I think that reading profiles....and turning down someone based on their occupation may be causing some to miss some really interesting people.
I've read a lot of judgement in this thread and it hit a little close to experience.
I am a Professional Trucker. Now I am labeled. So one judges by that tag...and I am passed by. Thats ok....their loss.
But they dont bother to find out that I work local and that it is not just a job, but a 30 year career that I take seriously.
I'm finding it superficial that the judgements we make so control our decisions.
Hmmmm....a trucker and a biker.........might as well deactivate.
JMO

well I am thinking that those of us that are making these decisions are making them based on something more about us then the occupation.. for instance prehaps someone that can't or couldn't date an OTR driver needs a man that is home everynight .. I am not sure what the union referance has to do with that .. Prehaps it is more telling about that person then the occupation they are not interested in .. and I might be missing out on some fabulous pimping drug dealing folks .. that is a risk I personally am willing to take ..

Local is not a union reference...simply means I am home every day.
This was the right answer though....because it is deeper.
It is not just the occupation the occupation is just a flag.
so we read on and find something more in the profile that turns us off. That takes the superficial out of the equation.
thanks for clairifing.

I think every profession has it's downfalls..it's what's inside you, how you can deal with it, how much you can trust that person...is one of the main things.

you are what you do.

I have millions of hated professions. mostly being things like cigarette company members, car dealers, insurance sales people, and just anything that takes advantage of others.
