no it will not be free, you need to read the fine print or listen to the whispered disclaimers. you will be forced to buy into the insurance scheme, failure to do so would mean garnishment

up here north of the border it's hidden in the other taxes that are withheld on a paycheck and no one knows how much they are paying for healthcare....and please take a look at social healthcare if you think it might be a good idea....we have a two tier healthcare where if you have the money you have a better chance to get what you want when you want it...and if that doesn't work some go to the US because of the waiting periods up here...

for an example I would have waited 9 months to get MRI for my back and neck due to a car wreck but since my insurance paid for it I got it in 2 days.....

#1.The United States Government made its first foray into guaranteeing old age income by promising pensions to encourage enlistments in the Union Army in the Civil War. This system was then put into law by legislation in 1879 and 1888.

#2.The Social Security Act of 1935 is one of the most important pieces of legislation in American history. Passed during the depth of the Great Depression, it was an omnibus act, creating a variety of programs to serve many groups of citizens. But the Act takes its name from the landmark social insurance program which was designed to pay retired workers age 65 or older a continuing income after retirement.
###
the first act was an enticement meant to increase the number of soldiers for the Northern army, Republican way of thinking, "earn it"

the second one was meant to increase aid to the needy without any strings attached...Socialist way of thinking, "you're entitled to it"

I support the second way....

Yes, the second was to help the needy during the great depression. It was never meant to be a permanent program. Now anyone can get it. Its most likely going to be non existent after the baby boomer all retire. I also think its a crutch that people use. They don't save for themselves and just plan on taking SS when they are old enough.

Because, most of the people I hear talking **** about America are the ones in the Me, me, me category, and have done nothing for this country.
They rely on others sacrifices like Docs, mine, my nephew and the thousands of other true patriots to save it for them and enable their happy-go-lucky lifestyles.
I ask the question to see which side of the fence you stand on.

The watching side or the sacrificing side.

I have no choice but to watch due to my age and a few other issues...and if you want to know what side of the fence I'm on it's the right side...in more ways than one...drinker

Yes, but thats because all your doctors come here. Where our system rewards them by encourageing astronomical med costs and making them filthy rich for drumming up unneccessary procedures to make more money!

military pensions

Thats not SS. Thats taking care of the boy's.

Its a given if you want to survive as a Nation.

They earned it...........

What have you done for your country?huh

We each, every single American, owe a debt to our service personnel that we can never repay. We should do all we can for them. From the lowest clerk to the fiercest Marine. When you see them, thank them. If you can, do something to help them.

The social security system in the US is the only part of the budget that shows a profit and excess every year.
The problem with it is the politicians use the money to support other programs and make the deficeit look smaller.

You are falling for the propoganda. If they would keep their hands off it, it wouldnt be in trouble.

you know, you are the one living with the universal coverage system so I defer to you on it, all I can say is that from the reading Ive done on the medical system it seems to be the same everywhere there is universal coverage, long waits for appointments. so the arguement for it down in the states is not looking so good, i know that i wouldnt want it. (even tho i kinda do with the military)

not everywhere. here if I need a proceedure I go to my clinic, they call up the hospital make an appointment for me and within a day to a week (depending on the severity of the illness) I get my appointment. Payment is on a sliding scale or in many cases free of charge.
In the states it would be a nightmare because there are so many people already, Argentina has a population of about 45mil, compared to 300mil in USA..so the more people taxing the system the longer the wait, But hell when I was in the states and had health care I still had a 3-6 week wait for a doctors appointment so I dont see the difference.

It would seem we have all hijacked the orginal posters thread. laugh laugh laugh

But in reference to my last post, here is a place anyone interested can help our troops. No one in this outfit is paid any money at all. They are 100% legit. I know, I have met them, I have worked with them.

the health care is a federal scheme but there are province who are trying to start up two tier systems because of the poor state the health care is in. The feds are trying to shut them down because they are scared to lose their control. The feds don't want people to opt out of their health care since their tax dollar is needed to pay for those who don't. It's a socialist system that doesn't work....

maybe the ones you normally come across in the forums but if you have some time one day goggle fro some info on the health care system in Canada...I'm not saying the health care in the US is in good shape, I'm just saying socialized health care isn't the way to go.
