Hiya JT

What kind of pipe? Why is it under water? Can you dry it up around the pipe? It's MUCH more difficult to find a leak underwater.

Is the water still? Is the lighting good? As long as the water isn't moving too much sometimes you can drop fine flakes of something - like glitter - around the pipe to see if there's a jet coming out of the pipe. If it's a slow leak the only thing to do is inject a dye into the pipe then look for it in the water.

But that's damn hard to do.

I'm certainly no plumber though. Just have a basic knowledge and understanding.

it's PVC piping.it looks to be about 6 inch PVC pipe.why is it under water?because the leak started last night while i was asleep and the water just built up,so it's now under water.luckily the house sits at a slant,so the water is staying away from all the electrical stuff.

we used a shop vac until the vac quit working for some reason grumble .yeah the water is still.i don't have any dye or glitter,so any other way?

Well JT how deep is the water? You need to get it dry so you can find the leak.

Trust me, you don't want to try to find a leak underwater. There aren't enough cuss words in the English language for that.

it's maybe an inch deep.

the reason i say it's under water is because i can tell the side the leak is coming from is under water.

Are you sure it's the pipe leaking and not water coming up from underneath somewhere?

A 6 inch PVC pipe in the basement is a drain pipe - no pressure and no reason to leak. It takes a LOT to bust or crack a PVC pipe.

Sounds like a ground water problem to me JT.
