wow im shocked at how insensitive some people are.

Dating a military man is difficult and I know this from personal experience. It takes 2 strong people and a strong committment. I know plenty of people who do it every day & both people remain faithful. I also know plenty of couples where the man cheats while being away or the woman cheats. Ive even heard the phrase "what happens on the ship, stays on the ship" (for the navy). Frankly I think thats terrible.

It is in no way abandonment of relationship when both people know going into it. That is just ridiculous. How is it someone elses fault that they got cheated on?
flowerforyou Finally...A breath of fresh air Thanx aims. ArmyMan What can I say? Thank You for everything you've done. 3 Tours, My hat's off to you. You deserve better and as for the visiting members of the She-devil Man haters Club, You are truly amazing.

Hate men? Me??? Lmao!!!!

Nope just people who exaggerate and mislead intentionally, and make out a scenario that is far from factual.

It would have helped had he stated in his OP that she was a g/f of short term.

Im just wondering why me as well as about 50% of the other soldiers I know get cheated on while we are in Iraq....I just got back from my 3rd tour and found out I got cheated on again! I guess I don't get it maybe someone can let me know why this happens so much. I just hope there is a girl who can see I will proudly fight for my country until I can't anymore. I just want a faithful woman but I guess that easier said than done.

Hmmmm....wives and partners aren't pets... to be abandoned whilst you are out playing GI Joe...

You dont get to get yourself a woman, then abandon her to go play wars, and expect her to sit there staring at the wall till you come home...

Besides, in the fast food instant gratification culture of the american mr and mrs joe average...who has time to wait anymore..

Also, swap places, and BE HONEST... like you would sit at home and knit if that was your woman, off playing wars for months on end...? I suspect the answer is..... NOT.bigsmile

Quite correct that wives and partners aren't pets. But when married to someone who wears a uniform you also accept the fact that they may just get called for duty for months.

3 Tours!! How many of those did you volonteer for? Leaving to do your assigned duty I can understand but if you volonteered for more tours then you caused some stress in there.
 mad mad mad mad explode explode explode
@#$ $#%&% #$ j%$#$ ^%&$# he is doing three tours so you can sit on you $ss and take cheap shots at someones service, what have you done for your country, its not playing GI joe, we have a shortage of soldiers so that cry babies wont whine about having to be drafted. and people who dont have the nerve or balls to serve their country, people with comments like that just make meexplode explode explode explode explode explode

I'm going to assume since I'm quoted in there that a part of that tirade is aimed at me.

I SERVED! I'M AN EX GRUNT!!!

48th Royal Highland Regiment of Canada.
aka Black Watch

And NO AMERICAN IS PROTECTING ME. NO CANADIAN SOLDIER OVERSEAS IS PROTECTING ME. THEY ARE PROTECTING THE PEOPLE OF AFGHANISTAN AGAINST TALIBAN.

btw. Until I made plans to leave the country I was in processing for enlistment in Reserve Force..................at 53 years of age.

Breathe mate, before you blow a valve...

Sit on my arse???

I wish, no, I got to clean up the mess, that these stupid wars did to families, what the military does to men, women and children....

And it is playing GI Joe... he's a kid, the OP... three tours??? That's one mighty messed up young buck...comes in to this site whining about some woman who he WASN'T having a committed relationship with, but made out he was, about her cheating..... and pulled the sympathy card... a returned soldier got shafted by some woman boo hoo...

The kid is taking up space...

Anyone else, from anywhere else, that didnt involve the criminal war in Iraq, and you would all be telling him to suck it up, grow some balls, and get on with it... but no... he is a SOLDIER, so is treated with a whole different set of rules... gimme a break.

Also he didnt save my arse from anything....

I'm Australian... perhaps thats why I dont do the bullsh*t hand holding, because he's in a uniform, but call it for what it was...bullsh*t.

well karma, if you agreed with jess then yes that tirade as you called it was perfectly aimed, if not, my apologies, and soldiers fighting the taliban over there are protecting all of us, unless your one of those #$% $% # $%^%^& that thinks nothing can happen to you over here, up in canada or where ever, guess you'd rather fight here than there

As a soldier, I'm staying single.Friends are great right now...I have seen way to much shi't from my friends who are male soldiers to be hurt like many of them.It makes me scared to date... Plus that stint with the infantryman was way to much for me to handle.....I'm sorry this has happened to you...

I am so sorry this happened to you. Not saying i approve of any of this, but, perhaps part of the reason some women do it is because they feel insecure, afraid to be left alone, need an escape from their worries.

The fact that your trying to put the blame on me is ridiculous or trying to show people it was ok because she was lonely i was pretty lonely in a country where people hated me. she knew i was a soldier and knew i was going to leave...so dump me tell me to piss off just dont cheat on me. to all those who say i shouldn't of volunteered to go the one time i did volunteer well i really dont care what you think and if it comes up again i'll volunteer again i love this country and will fight for it no matter what. i know theres a woman out there that can see that.

You put it out here for comment! If you thought that you would only get supportive empathy or sympathy... I'm guessing you thought wrong.

As for what you are doing. As patriotic and commendable as it is... It really has little to do with the subject at hand. Regardless of where you are and what you are doing. You find yourself in a broken relationship.

Many of my relationships...including the one I am in right now, have been over some distance. Many of the jobs I've had, take me to far away places for most of a given year too. So.. Of course, I have been cheated on at times.

Personally? I don't let it rent a bunch of space in my head. She gets to be accountable for the decisions she makes.. I am accountable for mine. I cannot change her processes or the processes of any future intimate partners... All I can do is change mine.

If I found myself in relationships that consistently ended in the same way? I think it would be a good thing to sit down and figure out how my decisions play into that.

So.. rather then concentrating on the obvious.. her part. Maybe it might be a good time to do some soul searching on the less obvious... Your part.

Right now, apparently.. you are feeling betrayed and violated. No harm in that, provided you don't let it take over your life.... However, sooner or later (which is up to you) it will pass. That would be a good time to sit and have a talk with yourself about your part in it.

I'm really sorry to hear this happened to you. Unfortunately it does happen when our soldiers go away alot, it's sad to watch. When my late husband was gone to schools, Bosnia, Afghanistan, ..I never even thought about cheating, I loved him to much to even want to. But I watched many others who did. Just sickening to see...hang in there, there is someone out there who will love you enough to be true.

so sorry, THANK YOU for what you are doing for all of us, my dad was air force (retired) passed away last year. please don't judge all women from the bad ones you have had a relationship with, there are good men and women out there, you just have to weed them out
