Can't say that I know the song...but I feel the same way. It will happen in his time not ours....guess I need to be patient. I've kind of adopted an I don't care attitude (think that will help it any?)

it says if you want to be successful you have too make an effort. then god will guide your steps and open doors. if you are getting out and looking god will bring the right one into your path. if you are sitting at home hoping he will ring your doorbell your going to wait a long time. i know for myslf its hard to put myself out there because i hate being rejected.

CountryBumpkin, I basically ruined my life early on waiting for God to bring someone to me. And I was even going out there knocking! It never happened, I’m 58 and never-married. Yet, ironically I wanted to be married as early as my late teens. Not just for the sake of being married, but because that would have meant that I found my lifemate. I never found her, and that was really the only prayer request I ever really made. At least with respect to personal requests. And I didn’t view that as a ‘personal’ request, because I felt that finding a lifemate would have been good for me, for her, for my mother, and a whole lot of other people. So it was hardly a selfish request.

I’m not even sure if I want that prayer answer now. My mother passed away, and half the reason I wanted a loving lifemate is because it would have made my mother happy in so many ways. It always would have potentially provided her with grandchildren to love, and who would love her back.

In short, it would be too little, too late, at this point in my life. I might still be able to make a woman happy, and maybe her mother, and her children. But my mother lost out big-time. That original prayer not only hold any meaning.

I think my higher power has been giving me advice through some of the residents I care for. Just the other night I was helping this one resident and she told me that she thought I was depressed. She asked me if I had a girlfriend. She told me that I should get a girlfriend. I wanted to ask her why but didn't. It is sometimes like they aren't speaking to me but someone else. I find it interesting to talk to residents when they are in dementia. It is like talking to someone while they are in their sleep. My job sometimes fascinates me.

You should have asked her if she knew where you can get one. You could figure out the why on your way to that location.
