that is why i find the department of education funny. It seems that since the government started regulating the public school system more and more people were learn a little less about The Declaration of Independence, and things of that sort. And Ya i love quoting good old Ben. Our forefathers were pretty intelligent individuals

An organized, thinking, well informed populace is.. A bunch of rednecks with guns? Probably will shoot each other long before getting into the fight. somebody needs to watch ""next of kin"" |

somebody needs to watch ""next of kin"" Huh? You are kidding aren't ya? What next? Maybe 'Red Dawn'? Or any 70's, 80's vintage flick that depicted a vigilante called Death Wish X? In the very least you would have brought up a true story like the Black Donnely's, or the Hatfield & McCoy feud. As opposed to this machismo work of fiction that was one of more then a few vehicles for Patrick Swayze... Dude... If you are serious? You're scaring me! Not so much for me.. but for you, your family, your neighbors.... Your post does explain a few things though. I gotta run out. Have a good time while I'm gone! |

If only there were not so many idiots out there who leave guns in the house( in a shoebox on a closet shelf or in a dresser drawer) for their children and children's friends to find and kill each other with.... If you are going to have a gun in the house for protection or whatnot, PUT IT IN A LOCKED GUN SAFE!! Too many countless children are dying from gunshot wounds because "Mommy and Daddy" thought that their child would KNOW better than to touch the gun. Even though I don't like guns and think that there are way too many ways for humans to die without adding guns to the mix..I realize that guns are probably here to stay. My own father has always had guns...he collects them, and to me it looks like an arsenal....but he is smart and purchased a huge gun safe to keep everyone safe. If you are going to have guns in the house...especially with children or even teenagers in the house...PLEASE LOCK THEM UP!

PUT IT IN A LOCKED GUN SAFE!!
yeah the perk will give all the time you need to go get it gun safety should be taught starting in kindergarten but then so many kids would not have gun incidents and the govt would lose a great propaganda tool to unarm the ""people"" |

Yeah I know, joke on me. Putting guns in a safe would make it easier for a perp to get to you, right? I guess I care more about little kids blowing their heads off. All the time we read stories about some kids finding a gun at home or even at babysitter's house and getting curious about the gun. Sorry, but I don't think the agenda in most health classes at school will be "Gun Safety". Best precaution is to just not make guns available to kids and teenagers who might be suicidal. That means putting them in a safe.

if ya someone cares about the kids they would have the firearm to protect them wit and teach them how it works and the danger involved with handling it it is part of being a good parent if there is a potential harm to them you teach them about it thus reducing the chance that the harm will happen That is certainly one way to look at it. In my case? Nope. First off? There is no material object I own that is an expression of my love for anyone.. or my desire to protect them. Even the wedding band I used to wear did not bear that much responsibility. Second? I may not have children of my own, but I used to be one, and have been around enough of them to know that they are very self willed creatures. Boundaries are abstracts till late in the game for most. Hell.. I even know some adults that are challenged, more often then not, by self will. Constantly testing limits and wondering why they suffer as a consequence. Saying that you can teach a child about the dangers of firearms and therefore trust they will handle them accordingly, due to what you have taught them... without fail? That is an assumption I would not be willing to take. For the sake of the child, myself, and everyone else within a half mile or so... Hell.. There are adults that don't get that level of trust from me! I also don't teach children to drive, and trust that they will use the car in responsible ways when they aren't being watched. Being a good parent is teaching them about stuff that can do them harm...sure! It is also safe guarding them from them til they are old enough to use what you teach. Lastly... In most cases of assault.. be it on the street or in your home.. The 'perp' (My God, I feel as if I'm stuck in an episode of NYPD blues) has the clear advantage of surprise. It escalates from nothing to a situation that could demand deadly force in an instant. If you use that instant to reach for a firearm? Chances are you have wasted it. So..unless you are in the habit of carrying a chambered firearm in your hand, every minute of every day? It really is not a very reliable tool for most situations. Like I said.. I have carried and kept firearms. I know how to use them... and have trained for the particular weapons I own. I have pointed them at people too, fully prepared to use them... When I had enough warning to access them. I've also been witness to people gunshot. Some fatally, some not. Most could have been avoided. Personally? If I never have those weapons in my home again? I will probably live a better life. What you do and decide? Is outside of my control. Unless it somehow directly effects me. I had a downstairs neighbor that took comfort in having a .357 revolver in her home. It was always loaded and ready to fire. She also had a habit of pondering using it to take her own life at times.. or to chase phantom 'perps' around the complex I live in. The 3 times she was arrested for this behavior... The handgun was given back to her after spending some time in the local mental ward. Apparently her right to bear arms superseded my right to live safely in my own home. So the courts were unable to take her weapon from her for hers and my sake. I finally had to intervene. I explained to her I would make it my personal hobby to make her life as miserable as possible until she showed me a bill of sale for the handgun, or moved. Then I gave her an idea of how I would go about that. She showed me the bill of sale 48 hours later. Moved 2 months later. |

i would be daring enough to say more children are killed crossing the road than by guns every year maybe roads should be outlawed Yea? That could work (I say facetiously).. Or maybe parents should safeguard their children from the roadways.. rather then teach them how to play in them... |

i would be daring enough to say more children are killed crossing the road than by guns every year maybe roads should be outlawed that would sure cut back on traffic deaths which is the leading cause of death..and for children about half of the children killed in car accidents were unrestrained.. |

that would sure cut back on traffic deaths which is the leading cause of death..and for children about half of the children killed in car accidents were unrestrained.. Yea? So really.. Parents should be outlawed. |

Yea? So really.. Parents should be outlawed.
if parents were outlawed then who could the kids blame for messing up their lives? |

if parents were outlawed then who could the kids blame for messing up their lives? True.. So we should just outlaw human life. Damn.. N_Yanke? With adj4u's help... I think we just stumbled onto the solution to this debate! |

True.. So we should just outlaw human life.
Damn.. N_Yanke? With adj4u's help... I think we just stumbled onto the solution to this debate! perfect plan and since I have been told many times I'm sub human I guess I will survive... |

I'm sub human I guess I will survive... Naw.. you're just Canadian.. The two are often confused, and by the virtue of being Canadian.. you will survive. Assuming that we don't go making decisions for the rest of the world..like we Americans so often do! |
