Baby dolls.

dollys work
cloth ones, because when they chuck the pllastic ones at your face thinking their playfull IT HURTS.
and not crayons beacuse 3yr olds tend to want to express their creativity on nice freshly painted walls.

dahhh thats just the overprotective father thing, my dad was the SAME WAY with me.
so basically im saying

if you want your daughter to listen to satanic music, and wear black lipstick daily... BUY THE KID A TRIKE. hahaha
no im just kidding, my daddy is a great dad.

just make sure you watch her when shes riding it. =)
get her one with a basket too... those are cuuuute.

My son got a Mustang car for Xmas (1 1/2 yrs old at the time).

Unfortunately we now live on the 3rd floor of the apt. building and it now sits on the balcony. :(

I bet she'd love a power wheels toy if you have the room for it.

Dolls are always easy...
easy to play board games... like candyland.
floor puzzles. they are huge and lay on the floor. really easy for little kids to do and bc they're so big they really seem to dig it more.
dress up clothes.
crayons are cool, just sit with her and color with her. obviously when left alone with crayons they end up in the mouth or on the walls.
glittery books.

Good luck.

I used to run the toy departmet at Christmas for a foil to social work; Three year old girls??? Hmmmm usually pretty hot for play vacume cleaners, princess dresses, fairy wings, baby dolls.
You are looking for a WOW gift try a Barbie peddle car, or have a Cinderella coach made. The later takes and accomplished welder and a bunch of brass hoops. The over size trike is an excellent idea but you want to kick it up a notch on the WOW! meter take it to an automotive shop and have it pink metal flake sparkled and then give the spokes the "princess treatment" jewels or strands of rhinestones that you buy at a craft store by the yard and so forth.

My oldest son's birthday is 4 days before Christmas. The year he turned 3 between his birthday and Christmas he got a tricycle and a battery operated jeep, and those were just the two biggies, not counting all the other assorted small toys etc. He spent the next 6 months playing with the huge card board box the new fridge came in. We carried that huge box back and forth between our house, the baby sitters house and the grandparents house (Texans always have a truck, until their babies turn 16 and wreck those trucks) until it finally fell apart, he cried for weeks. Why can't we get another new fridge? Get her whatever, she will find something else to play with, it is what makes a kid a kid.
