There are jokes and humour which make folks laugh, others that may even reduce one to tears at times. There are also jokes which may offend.
This has been so throughout history and the whole world. If you are offended by jokes here, be assured that it is not the intention of those of us who post here to do so. Humour is universal. Better to contact the poster by email and inform the poster that you are offended. Then they can either apologise to you personnaly by return of email, or make a statement in the actual thread.

In the meantime to all those who post jokes and stories here. KEEP ON POSTING GUYS.

And may the laughs continue. bigsmile

Tom -- I, for one, appreciate what you're doing here. We have a lot of great people posting in the Jokes forum, and guys like you and Cooly always give us something to laugh about.

As for those who are offended -- as a moderator, I can tell you that very few joke topics are ever pulled. It does happen, but in those cases, it's almost always extreme language, or extreme grossosity, that does it! For the most part, the stuff that gets posted here is well within the guidelines.

We do get abuse reports about "offensive" jokes, and -- having examined a number of the reports -- I can tell you that the vast majority of the jokes being reported are actually milder (and usually funnier) than the stuff you'll see on an average TV sitcom.

I think some people just go out of their way to find something to be offended by.

Tom, all I can say, is thank you, and keep up the good work!

Most jokes don't bother me. Except the blond jokes. And even until last week, I could appreciate a really original one.

Up until the post discussing the use of the phrase, "having a blond moment".

That actually got me to really think about the way the concept of the 'dumb blond' became a norm in society and how the blond jokes just perpetuate it.

Some people may not realize it, but it has reached a level in our society, that many blonds color their hair just to get taken seriously in interviews and at their jobs. It is so ingrained that there are so many people out there that will not take a blond in the professional work force seriously.

In fact, it is very similar to the way people don't take obese people seriously in the work force. In order to be taken seriously, they have to do their jobs twice as good as everyone else just to achieve any recognition for their work. We just hear about that more often.

You don't see documentaries or news programs on the fact that blonds are often not treated as equals anymore because there is an attitude expecting blonds to be either stupid, or if they are intelligent, then simple, childish, and silly.

It has, unfortunately, become part of our culture landscape.

I do have to agree here. I post a varity of jokes, some requested which are their favorite types, others may not like, it all depends on everyones taste in humor, thats what makes us all different. There are certain 1's even I won't post, certain 1's are borderline, if I ever thought it was offensive to anyone I always try to make to statement to that, but it's just a joke. Anyone who takes the time to post a joke has my respect and should be thanked, not slammed with bad remarks.

We take the time to post a joke
Some just want to poke
So some can have a laugh
Doesn't always please the other half
So why ruin it for all, including the staff

Just want to say thanks to Lex an all those who do post for everyone's amuzement.drinker drinker

Those who post derogatory remarks are a joke themselves and should just be ignore and taken with a pinch of salt. (Liversalts if neccessary.) That should flush them out of the system. bigsmile
