So sad this had to happen

It was an M5..... there's a video of a state trooper talking and the aftermath on bottom of second link. trooper said there was an 80 foot high berm at end of runway they caught 200 feet of air off of, into a big oak tree!

The car flew through the air for 200 feet, he said, and struck an oak tree 15 feet off the ground, splitting the vehicle in two

200 feet?

That's AWESOME.

Basically a pile of dirt. In this case, a huge pile of dirt.

I'm willing to bet BOTH testicles that they were screaming, laughing and encouraging him to "go faster and faster". All while staring at the speedometer the ENTIRE time.

I can imagine the last seconds of their lives sounded like this; "A hundred dude, YEAH, 120...YAY....faster man, faster, 140....HOLY ****, AWESOME, FASTER FASTER FASTER, A HUNDRED AND FIFTY ****IN MILES AN HOUR DUDE, YAYAYAYAYAYAYAYAY <they look up> OHHHHH SHIIIIIIIIIITTTTTTT"...........you know the rest.

yes..what total waste of a very expensive piece of machinery..but i wonder how many people in this world would make the car thier growing source of consern if it would have been thier loved ones inside...

but very true though...a horrible waste of metal..

your sympathy for the 5 families of these young men is overwhelming......why not show some consideration for the deceased and their families!!!

if any members of JSH are friends or family of these 5 young men, my thoughts and prayers are with you and their families. may God keep them close in His arms.

The article seems to indicate that they realized beforehand and tried a "braking maneuver" and sounds to me like they went off the embankment sideways. 200 feet of air SIDEWAYS off an embankment. Unreal. Seems fairly obvious to me that you should never go that fast on a road that you don't know where it turns/ends. Tragic.

The kid was posting on the M5 board 2 hours before the crash asking how to get the SMG to shift better. The car only had 1,100 miles on it.

tragic indeed and nothing to make light of. the growing insensitivity of some causes me much concern.
