Article #2 of our constitution forbids any foriegn born american citizens to run for president.
However, with our evolving country (such as foriegn born Arnold Swartzneiger being elected gov. of CA)should this be changed? As it stands today....the californian governor cannot not run for president. What are your thoughts? I'll add my opinion & my thoughts later...but I want to see what everyone else thinks...(not that it would change) |

It prolly wont change in our life times, but just think, they put it out there in Demolition Man, saying Arnold was president. Very amusing, considering it was way before he even ran for governator.

I understand where our persident should be a pure blooded American. I personally probably wouldn't want Arnold runnin for president.. but this is the land of the free. We should have the right to run for president no matter who you are...

What I find as funny is: The point that only people born americans can run for president, because they don't want someone to come over from another country with said country's agenda and run for president. Yet the presidency is bought and paid for by special interests, so how is that different?

I believe it should be changed to include naturalized citizens myself.Would widen the choice pool immensely.

Why in the heck would you post here if you aren't interested in politics? Considering this whole forum is pretty much strictly that makes the reason why that person posted in the first place pointless. Mono has a point.
Anyways, no, I do not think a foreign-born naturalized US citizen should be allowed to run for President. It has good political thriller idea behind it though should anyone want to write a good novel, if someone hasn't already! The naturalized US citizen goes to the best schools, becomes a US citizens, rises in the ranks in Washington and then runs for President. Becomes President and then it turns out he is really a loyalist to some enemy country of the US that wants to bring it down, best way through a popular President from the inside. Dum dum dummmmmmm..... :D |
