Topic: Love & thanks ~ to our beloved Soldiers... | |

Never forget that they were prepared
to make the ultimate sacrifice in our name. H Marshall Scotland 2004 this troubled land of fire and heat where scorching sand burns more than feet this soldier band in foreign glen who firmly stand when called again this hardened brand of loyal men bravely withstand the fear and pain this muddled hand that they were dealt; who'll understand the shock they felt? this cruel demand on our brave youth could be damned in face of truth |

"They shall not grow old, as we that are left grow old, Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them." An excerpt from, "For the Fallen", by the English poet, Laurence Binyon, 1914. The poem was written as a tribute to those who gave their lives for Great Britain in World War I. |

A Letter to bin Laden
John Marshall North Carolina, USA 2006 Come out of your cave, bin Laden, and meet me for battle. Come down from your mountain, little goat, and bring your saif. I will beat you with a stick. I will thrash you with the limb of a willow. I say you will never see Allah, for you are a prisoner of your own passion. All the celestial virgins you dream of are not women. They are serpents of lightning, and they will wound you a thousand times with their kisses. They will wound you for a thousand days. They will wrap you in their flares, and when you cry out for water they will offer you only the blood of the victims of your wrath. Are you afraid of me? Then come out of your sty, little pig. Bring your scimitar, and I will smite you with a pea. I will lash your face with a feather. I say you will never see Allah, for you are a slave to your own perversity. All the starry maidens you dream of are not women. They are griffins of fire, and they will wound you a thousand times with their caresses. They will wound you for a thousand years. They will embrace you with their flames, and when you are hungry they will feed you only the bones of the victims of your rage. Are you afraid of me? Then come out of your hole, little shoat, and bring your shamshir. I will shake the ground beneath you with my breath. Bring your perjury, and I will show you truth. Bring your avarice, and I will show you justice. I say you will never see Allah, for you are blinded by your own enmity |

Psalm 23
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies; Thou anointest my head with oil; My cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever. |

They are our brothers and sisters, our moms and dads
They are called into service, when things go bad They are our sons and daughters, our husbands and wives They give up thier world, and sometimes thier lives They are our dear friends who are sent to distant lands They climb and fight, in the mountains of Afghanistan We hope and pray, they stay safe and come back While they are fighting and bleeding in the sands of Iraq They are our soldiers, to whom we owe a great debt We want them back home, but the job's not done yet So when you go to bed, offer a prayer from you and me For they have paid the price, because Freedom ain't free |
