I kept myself from dating because I wasn't ready. I was only meeting the guys that want someone to take care of them (I take care of myself and my child so I prefer someone who can take care of themselves). I also didn't know how to approach it with a child (don't want to have lots of guys in and out of my kiddo's life).  that's a great idea  Speaking as a child who grew up with a single mom, and HAD a lot of guys in and out (most of which were pretty crappy), I applaud you. Thanks man. I just didn't want my kiddo to go through what I did. Does it mean that I didn't have "fun"..no. Even that got complicated so I nixed the extracurricular activities. Now I'm ready to start dating. Besides, the kiddo is 8 and she's been worried about her mom being alone..lol. Kids are funny. I think it's sweet. Although it also sounds like the set up for a sitcom!  Now all you need to find is the studly stranger to move in next door. hmmm there is an house for rent next door to me... |

Because I choose to be. I never dated much back when I was younger. Kinda went from one long term to the next.
Then when I got divorced and became a single mom, I had too much on my plate to just sit down and start dating. And when I did, I saw the result after an 8 month relationship died and it was SO hard to explain to the princess that no, once again, SHE was NOT the reason why he left. Now with her living with her daddy for the next 2 years, it should be easier to date, but I don't feel like it. I have spent the last month knocking off potentials. I figure, if they can't fit into my schedule of school, daughter, work, then I don't have time for them. The one man I am seriously considering at this moment won't let us move forward because he deploys in 6 months and is very pessimistic about coming back. Which depresses me cause he makes me come alive. He even noticed it. That only 2 people make me light up when I talk. My daughter and him. Sucks he has to always think negative. I know that war isn't exactly a positive thing, nor does it usually have a positive outcome for our soldiers, but he has come home twice now, and I believe he will come home again. I have faith in him. And I have faith in God. (Wish they could all come back, ya know. I pray about all of our troops.) Oh well. So yeah, I am still single cause I choose to be. If I really wanted to be "taken" at this point, I know a few people who would snatch me up in a heartbeat and never let me go. But I am not ready yet, and I am kinda holding my heart out for one man right now. Ya never know, though. Right? |
