Topic: God's will...loving? | |
---|---|
First of all, I want to make it know that I do not believe in the normal concept of God... especially the descriptions in the Old or New testament...
I feel it is a pathetic mis-interpretation of the specific author's words and emotions. I do not believe that the book is without flaw. Completely unbelievable. Faith in man's ability to establish what is divine. It is absurd to suggest that God is in control or has control. I have heard the argument about the 'greater good' not always being understood whenever I have questioned why bad stuff happens to good people who do not deserve it to happen to them. THAT IS BULL****!!!!! So then I pose this question for all you believers in God's control. I would like just one... just one... reasonable answer why a little girl must get raped and brutalized over and over and over and over and over???? Give me one good reason? JUST FREAKING ONE!!!! |

Its because God is not in control---Man is. Human beings have free will. Humans make the choices every step of the way. God does not allow suffering---Man does. Your blaming the wrong thing. Humans are the ones who hurt each other, not God. It was humans who did the horrible act you are talking about, not God. Blame humans not God.

Cause we as humans are sinners, and we need God, he is the only one that can help both the person that raped her and the little girl who was raped. We need him, bad stuff happens to everyone, it does not choose just the bad people.

you are exactly right Mirror

It IS absurd to say that God is in control. Anybody who told you that is a moron. That is not what the bible or any of the other holy books of the monotheistic religions say. There are a lot of idiots who dont know what they are talking about.

I am glad you do not believe that God is all powerful... EDIT: You just try to tell that little girl about 'free will'... How free was hers? |

How does the notion of an all powerful God have nothing to do with my OP?
It has everything to do with my OP. Are you suggesting that he could do something but chooses to not? |

creative, you are right, god in these religions does have ultimate control and if he allows sins it is taught that it is for a reason. You are right in your analysis.
Others on here are also right, man does do evil. Not because of an effect from god as he is non-existant or a devil that is non-existant also, but from the mental illness and biological problems inside of them. So far we are batting 100 here right all the way around...lol |

Hasta luego...
No hostility, it was just a question. To make us think a little more of what we have accepted from Christianity. That's all... |

I agree with dinomart and MirrorMirror. Just as God had free will to create man , he had given man the free will to choose our own decisions. If God didn't love us, we wouldn't have freedom of will, we'd be mindless robots, that are forced to think a certain way and belive a certain thing. Just as our parents tell us to not take drugs. They tell us not to, but we choose either to follow or obey. they themselves know the outcome and the consequences, but there are some things that we have to find out for ourselves. We would consider our parents controlling and unloving if they like (figurativly speaking) kept us locked up in the house all day, away from the outside world and its many temptations. Our parents love us enough to trust us to not do those things, it is us who at times betray that trust.
anyway, i just thought i'd say what was going on in my mind, because I myself have asked the same question, but i hope that i no way offend anyone, I'm not a real fan of getting into Relgious Forums and what not, because it leads sometimes to bitter arguements. But I hope that whatever I have said may have been somwhat useful, and if not I hope someone can clear it up. I hope I havn't stirred any other arguments, and If I have i apologize. but I hope everyone has a good weekend, 1 |

Ah welcome NY!!!
To all involved... The problem arises out of the 'all-controlling' and 'all powerful' aspect... which I believe is completely ridiculous if you also include 'always loving' in that equation. There is no substantive and logical argument which explains why he would allow things like this to happen. If he were all-powerful he could stop things like this by any number of means... after all nothing is impossible with God... right? |
