Do you mean that you deleted the sound icon and cannot find it on your computer? Or do you mean that you actually deleted the drivers?
did you physically delete the sound software or has the icon disappeared from the menu bar? tried system restore for a start?

Right click on MyComputer from the desktop icon or the start menu. Chose Properties then Hardware (tab), click the Device Manager button. Scroll down the list to the topic of Sound / Video and Game Controllers and expand it open so you can see what is listed.
If you believe that the audio drivers are installed on your system. Locate your Audio driver in the list. Find your specific Audio Driver file, right click on it and Un-install / Remove it. (the Audio driver should be one of the only items that has the "Un-install / Remove" option under the right click.) Restart the computer and Windows should come back up and say it has found new hardware and Windows will install the software. Your sound should then work. If that doesn't work, then go to the computer manufacturer's site (Dell, Compaq, etc.) and look for their support/drivers section. Put your make and model in to bring up the list of drivers. Look for your sound driver - install it. I hope this helps!! |

If the software & drivers are gone, first thing to do is identify the soundcard,
(http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061125033121AAs7jJ9) that might help. |

My daughter did that recently, the drivers were still there but the software for the soundcard had disappeared. Fortunately I'd downloaded the software and saved it long ago on disc as there were no cd's came with the pc.
Did you try the "run/dxdiag" as mentioned above? You should be able to find the relevant software online. (If you can at least get the soundcard make & model I'm sure someone on here can point you to the site) |

How would I go about getting the sound card make and model
What's the make and model of your computer?
Is there a service tag number or serial number of some type on it? Is it a notebook or desktop system? |
Yes the make and model is Emachines T2085
the serial # is QL229 006 60511 Its a desktop |

Here's the link to your audio drivers.
http://downloads.emachines.com/drivers/audio/AC97_5.10.0.3910.zip Extract that file to a folder on your desktop and run the setup. It should reinstall everything for you. Other drivers for you system are at this page. http://www.emachines.com/support/product_support.html?cat=Desktops&subcat=T-Series&model=T2085 Try that and let us know how it goes. :) |
