I know a little about Excel, but not in depth (anymore).

I'm wondering... if I'd make a list of activities that I regularly do...
Let's say this:
1 walking
2 meditating
3 vacuuming
4 ...
5... etc. etc.

If I now want to quickly journal what I've done today, is it possible to then enter in cells under 'today' ONLY the corresponding nr of the activity I've done?
So let's say today I walked and vacuumed, I just enter 2 and then "meditating" appears.
I enter 3 in the next cell and "vacuuming" appears.

If that makes sense.
Is it possible to do that?
And if so, what is the correct formula for this?

Hi Crystal,

I think I know what you're asking,

1.) click the cells with the numbers (hold down "ctrl" on your keyboard for specific numbers or "shift" if it is the entire column)
2.) Then click a blank cell below the column... (so all cells are highlighted with a blank cell)
3.). Select the sum key (it looks like a capital E in Roman numeral form)

And your sum will be tallied. This works both with the rows and/ or columns.

Hope it works :sunflower:

SC, i think what you are trying to do accomplish can be done in excel whit is called β€˜reference list’

Thank you both!
I'll check that out tomorrow!
Reference list makes a lot of sense. I'm quite certain it can be done as Excel is such a magical programme.

I'll let you know if I figure it out :)

If it's any help:
The "capital E" that Merry referred to is in fact a Sigma character from the Greek alphabet. If you google "Sigma symbol" it will show you. Here it is: Ξ£
Best wishes!

Of course Sigma works, that is the symbol for summation which is what it sounds like you are trying to do

Crystal, were you able to figure out how to get your excel tracker to do what you need?
