I know what it's going to be! I just heard and saw the photos of the cake that told the gender in the way I explained above in previous post.
My girl picked up the cake when she got off work. Then waited for her man to come home. He got home an hour earlier than usual for the occasion. Then I got a photo of my girl with the cake, absolutely gorgeous. Then a photo of the cake when cut and it was... pink!! I'm going to be grandmother of a girl!! I was thinking a boy, my girl was hoping for a girl. She'd once dreamt of getting a baby girl. Well, her dream has come true! I had no preference. I have one of each myself and know how much fun either gender is to have. But now knowing it... damn, I cried!! Hihi. It's a girl!! |

En yes, it's great to know now that it's a girl :) On yesterday's ultrasound you could see the face en profile really well. Me thinks it's a very beautiful baby! Such a cute face, li'l nose etc. |

Thank you, Beach! I'm over the moon happy! As for the short nights... thank goodness that's for the parents, haha. Something I doubt any parent to be can fathom until it's there. So far I could only tell here but yesterday my daughter posted it on FB with photos of herself & her baby bump so I could finally tell it on FB too. |

My daughter is almost 38 weeks now! So anywhere between now and 4 weeks my granddaughter is going to be born!
It's amazing how fast that all went, phew. She had wanted to deliver at home, but then she'd have to do that downstairs as their staircase is too awkward to be used with a gurney in case of an emergency. And downstairs is problematic practically speaking, so she decided to deliver in hospital's delivery department. That is still delivering with your own midwife, exactly like a home delivery, just not in your own bed. She has had to elevate their bed nonetheless in case it goes fast and she can't make it to hospital. Both my daughter and I feel that the baby is going to come earlier than 40 weeks, as in coming week. Wait and see!! I don't have to deliver, but I'm getting nervous, hihi. |

A few of her friends organised that for her last week. I hadn't thought of it to be honest. It's not really tradition over here, it's a new thing that for the most part came from the US. Younger generations are picking up on that whereas The thought never crossed my mind... But she had a baby shower, so that's great :D Now it's just waiting for the li'l one the decide to see the world! Even though we feel she's coming before the 40 weeks are over, she could in actual fact be a few days late and be Taurus instead of Aries. In a way that'd be fun as I am Taurus, so is my daughter. If my granddaughter would be too it's becoming a family tradition, hahaha. |

We're all still waiting.
She's having mild 'test' contractions, but then it can still take days or even a week. My girl is now 5 days from the due date, the 16th. Last night she had different 'test' contractions but they disappeared after a few hours. I have gift-wrapped the pressie last night. It's now really waiting for the li'l girlie to decide she wants to see the world! |

OMG! Just gone midnight and my daughter Apped me that she's been having stronger contractions than last time, the 'test' ones. She's been having these strong ones for 1 - 1,5hrs now.
So it looks like the li'l one has decided to be born on the due day, the 16th!!! The midwife told her to try and sleep while she can still handle it and to phone again when she can't sleep anymore or can't handle it anymore. Smart advice since it's so late. If it takes approx. 12 hrs she's going to need some sleep at least otherwise she's going to have to deliver whilst being shattered. Fingers crossed she can actually sleep! Poor thing, in a way the most unfortunate time of the day to start as you risk not getting any sleep... |

OMG!!! My girl just Apped me she's having really painful contractions now!!
So... it seems these aren't test ones but the real deal! Just when I gotta go to bed! And the poor thing couldn't sleep anymore as it was too painful so she's in for a long night of delivering with no sleep at all it seems! I had so hoped for her it'd start in the morning so at least she'd be rested. Fingers crossed for her, really feel for her... |
