The love you never wanted is def. better because it is a learning experience and you can use that experience to find out stuff about yourself you didnt know before and have a better understanding of of what to look for in the future.

both are just fine. happens all the time. it is so wonderful to find such beautiful and inspiring people. i love them all - to know them is to love them...but not in the biblical sense!
and the corollary, there is no such thing as a love i never wanted. i will want your love, and i will return it...and i will know you...but not in the *biblical* sense!

As the old song goes "Love the one your with". Don't think I have ever met anyone that I truely loved and could not be with, or maybe I have but made sure I never allowed myself to get so close that I pined for them from afar. If at all possible when you think a situation like this may be croping up I think you should cut your loss and run like hell.
