Instead share some interesting about yourself and chat with her about something she is interested in . Avoid asking probing personal or intimate questions until a connection has been established . I agree, profile pictures are very important. It doesn't matter whether you feel you are attractive or not, what matters is lots of pictures of yourself, maybe showing what you enjoy doing and places you visited, they all provide information about you which helps when sending that first message.
