It may have something to do with the men they're meeting.

Why widows in sub continent donot marry and prefer to live alone?

Sub continent? What is that? Are we talking about mermaids?

And what does it matter why someone doesn't marry? Live your own life and find someone who is available and a good match.

As for the question... that was asked not that long ago too, either by you or someone else.
A number of people -incl me- said that in a country with arranged marriage they are likely happy to be free from the burden of having to get married. In such countries women usually are still expected to be subservient to their husband. Why voluntarily go there again? I wouldn't.
And if it was a marriage of love then people need time to heal from the loss.

If that's your opinion so be it. Personally I don't see how it is rational.

I do accept inbox messages, but I do use filters.

Oh, I still don't know what sub continent is.

Google tells me, the "sub continent" is in Asia. India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Ah, okay. I'd never heard that before. Thank you, Larsi!

How desperate and predatory does
a man have to be, to zero in on
widows?

I am from India, and even I don't know how this topic was conceived in the mind of @Asim. Widow remarriage is pretty common in the subcontinent especially among the literate, urban and the independent women. There's also a frustration among the predators who'd love to take advantage of the social insecurity that could befall a woman who is vulnerable! I personally find this post derogatory, sexist and biased. Moreover, eligibility for marriage has nothing to do with one's being a widow or widower. How can a partner's demise affect the criteria for eligibility?
No one with self respect needs pity. And the socially empowered women are good enough to mark out the predators and frustrate them to their wits end.

I don't feel it's a desperate type situation but whether they have things in common. Then again is the widow ready to accept the partners passing and move forward is the real question and what type of B.S. type test they will put somebody through.
