One of his cases extensively covered the American Natalee Holloway that disappeared back then. A major case was the kidnapping of Freddy Heineken.

Tonight he was shot 5 times, at least 1 hit him in the head. He had blood coming from his eyes so he is in very critical condition.

He'd just done a TV interview, and shortly after he walked out in a street in Amsterdam he got shot.

My thoughts are with him and his loved ones.
I hope he makes it.

I hope, he will pull through it as well.

Yes, it's quite something.

The disgusting thing is... a vid of him lying on the street after he's shot, bleeding from the head and eyes, is everywhere on line. It sick!
And it got reported on FB, FB's reaction: just block the one who posted it if you don't like it.

They remove everything that doesn't suit them, throw ppl off FB even, but this they allow.

Anywho... I hope he makes it for sure! 5 shots close range is quite serious.

There's no further news yet.
But no doubt he has a lot of enemies due to the work he has done for yonks now, and gets a lot of death threads.
Allegedly he was under protection of some serious criminal dude that's currently in prison. That's why he didn't have body guards as he rather not have those anyway.

Apparently they have arrested 3 suspects, hoping the culprit is among them. Wait and see, and hope he makes it till morning. Maybe that'd mean he stands a chance at surviving.
Some rumours are going round he's already dead though...

So far no news about his condition so I guesstimate he at least made it through the night? Although I doubt they're going to let us know anything much anytime soon concerning this case.
But the entire country is deeply shocked by this brutal attack. I hope we will get some confirmation that he's still alive.

As an update... he's still in critical condition.
His partner and family have released that info.
So he's alive, as for the rest... time will tell.
