I think as Texans, especially South Texans like me, we’re not use to this kind of weather so we’re not prepared for it and neither our are utilities. I too lost power at 8am Tuesday morning but it came back on a little after 8pm Wednesday but we had water just low pressured. You just have to make the most of it for now until it comes back on.

Good but I know it sucks. We were afraid it be out for days too since there are some here who’ve had the same problem. Also since I work for the Texas based grocery company HEB our shelves are bare in places since our trucks come out of San Antonio and if it’s not safe to drive out of there then no trucks can make deliveries to our stores. People might be upset but they have to remember that we put the safety of all our partners first. I know it sucks too roughing it.

Good to hear that. I have seen several trucks on the roads. When i went home at noon today to find the power on. So no more roughing it for me.

Wow, that is a while for it to be off. Most I know lost theirs for a day or so or it was coming on once in a while long enough for them to get warm and fix something to eat..

Glad yours is back on..

Even tried to get friends to come to stay with me but they refused..said they were waiting for it to come back on..

I was at work today and was told that our trucks are coming this evening and would continue to come in through this weekend but milk would be stocked by Monday. Just wondering how you NP4P was able to be online cause with us since we had no power meant no internet connection and WIFI and TV which sucked. My mom talked to her Aunt who lives in LongView and said she never lost power. I think most people now here have it back on. When I lived in Illinois I never remember our power going out. I forgot that Texas has its own grid but still it really sucked losing power.

I was lucky never lost power, water or internet.. But then like I said I'm on the same grid that the PD/FD are on and they were not cutting the power for those or hospitals..

It is sad how many had to deal with that..

I do know over 165 in just the small community I'm in had frozen pipes.. I was blessed and did not have that problem.. But will be checking once it has all melted..

Which, most of it melted today...

Julie Iwas online because i use the web based site on my cell. drinks And kept it charged because i have a battery pack that can be used to boost vehicles, charge / run usb devices, and has a built in compressor. Yup was definitely wierd as to how many grids in.my area stayed down so long.

Thank goodness for cellphones and vehicle chargers. Lets hope the power never goes out again like it did during really cold weather!

What is sad, is it should have never happened in the first place if the stations had been well maintained like they should have been..

I feel sorry for those people that had Electric with Giddy Electric and got those $17,000 bills... shshshs

And then all those that had all the busted water pipes~~~

I agree also texasgal. I think the bills should be prorated. After all they had to pay for the plumbers, and find other ways to stay warmish.

Heck, the power plants should have to pay for damages due to it was their fault.. But that will never happen..

Omg not sure which provider you have.. I had just changed my plan a week or so before the freeze.

The new plan TXU gave me was 50% off in the Summer/Winter.. Must have worked for my bill for March dropped $40 from the month before, it was $163 then my bill for April is $216 I can't imagine what I would have done if I had not switched my plans just before the freeze..

But $884 is way beyond.. mine normally in the Summer will hit $300 this last summer with my son and his gf living with me it hit $568 and I blew a gasket..It has never been over $350 and I have lived here 30 years..

By my understanding, those that were not in contract got screwed from so many providers.. I do not know anyone that had a high bill that was with TXU..
