Probably a mix of cool, light and paranoia? Being on a stage in front of thousands would make me a little self conscious too

I never wear them.. whether playing, driving, on the boat.
Being blind in one eye, having glasses on blocks what vision I do have to my left side. Maybe it became cool because Roy Orbison wears them.. idk.. Of course, he has a good reason... as well as Ronnie Milsap and Ray Charles. |

As soon as I go outside, especially in the Winter when there is snow, I put my sunglasses on because of the glare. It doesn't matter if I am just taking a walk or just playing around. In the daytime I always wear my sunglasses while I am driving only because they are prescription.

Not sure what you mean by "on stage in their homes" but I can tell you that old style PAR lights are very bright and intense, newer LEDs no so much.

Because when you're cool, the sun shines on you 24 hours a day.

It's so you don't have to look at the punters.
And the cool thing |

To fit the personification of the band.
Because they are comfortable or comforting. Forgot to take tnem off. Amount of filter the shades provide is low. Nursing a hangover. Highly reflective surfaces under bright lighting. Personal isolation. Because you feel like it makes you look good. Because someone you admire told you that you look good while wearing them. Your eyes hurt. You just woke up. You are getting ready for a nap. The album cover of your latest release shows you in sunglasses. Your most recent music video shows you wearing them. Your agent suggested you wear them. Differences in stage placement marks gets confusing during a show. Certain types of lighting bothers you. Fitted with a live camera or microphones. Prescription. Any personal reason at all. |

Many blues and jazz musicians wear dark sunglasses while playing as part of their image.
