Not the worst kind of horror, but suited for Halloween for sure.

- The Entity - 1982 - based on true story, Barbara Hersch. I will NEVER watch it again. It haunted me for years.

- Ghost Ship - 2002 - I prefer not to watch this one alone or at night, hihi.

- The Last Witch Hunter - 2015 - Vin Diesel, Rose Leslie

- The Season of the Witch - 2011- Nicolas Cage. Undeserved lower rating for such a great movie!!

- The Village - River Phoenix, Bryce Dallas Howard. Still scary when watching 2nd time, hihi.

- Stephen King movies, like The Shining, Pet Semetary

- Blade 1 & 2 - Wesley Snipes. Then dance to the theme song after the movie! Me loves that song.

- Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters - great movie, great story, great fighting!

- Deep Rising - 1998 - Famke Janssen

-The Little Girl Who Lives Down the Lane (1976) - A very young Jodie Foster. A movie I always liked. Not so scary but different and creepy that starts on Halloween. I'm close to someone who has a Halloween birthday.

I love horror movies, especially during this time of year :jack_o_lantern::ghost::skull::japanese_ogre::japanese_goblin::smiling_imp:pitchfork
I’m not very fond of torture movies like all the SAW ones and I Spit on your Gravenoway but I watched them anyway  laugh
Most of my favorites are Stephen King movies...... bigsmile

My favs are monster/creature/alien horror movies. I also like test subject/survival horror.

Have you seen Pontypool (2008)?
Its about this radio announcer in his booth when a disease breaks out causing people to turn self-destructively violent towards others when they hear the spoken English language. Such a unique horror pretense.

Another interesting one is The Show aka This Is Your Death (2017).
Its about a game show airing suicides and the slow descent of the host from caring about others to devaluing human life.

I also like Time-Loop horror movies.
Like Haunter 2013, Happy Death Day (2017) & Death Day 2U (2018), Triangle (2009) and Blood Punch (2013)

I love the fighting scenes, apart from the witch stuff of course.

I really like the movie. It's great, some scenes even worth a chuckle. But the cast is wonderful and these geeky weapons they use... Love it!

Good Samhain / Halloween movies

I never really associated horror movies with Halloween.
Even the horror movie Halloween. To me it's like associating Sci-Fi with Easter.

For me it was the things that had fun celebrating the cultural/social tradition.

Things like It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown.
I watched Hubie Halloween recently, and I thought that was fun.

Maybe Elvira Mistress of The Dark.
Watching the local cable, or pay cable shows that were hosted by Elvira, or people like Elvira that had some kind of "scary" shtick, they'd wear a costume, and late night on Halloween they'd play campy "horror" movies from the 60's and 70's and offer commentary and humor before and after the movies or commercials, rife with Halloween puns and other special guests in costume.

Also, all the t.v. shows that had Halloween episodes. Like Simpsons tree house of horror, 80's Roseanne, Home Improvement, or Friends.

A few years ago YouTube was great for Halloween "movies."
You could watch hours of home movies of kids (first) trick or treat adventures, and pranks pulled on trick or treaters.

Also on YouTube you used to be able to find "movies" of people (and their reactions to) going through professional haunted houses, but anymore "professional" haunted houses just seem to be teenagers screaming in your ear as loud as they can and jump scares.

And you used to be able to find all sorts of "hidden cam" movies on YouTube where people would record drunk people at Halloween parties, where they're all in costume and just saying the funniest/weirdest/most horrible things/confessions.

I think YouTube did a lot of editing out of that stuff, though, I haven't looked for a while.

I have to admit I find the horror stuff a bit weird myself. It isn't really traditionally part of it either. It came from The States, while the traditional was taken to The States. It's traditionally Irish.
Food was put out to appease the spirits and to attract good spirits. The Celts wore masks to keep away the not so good spirits.
But horror wasn't part of it.

I don't really associate it with horror and horror movies myself. To me the ritual part is more important so if it comes to movies that'd translate in things like "The Last Witch Hunter" and "Hansel & Gretel".
And this only since I've practiced witchcraft for a few years and did rituals on Samhain.
Halloween was never a tradition here. It has blown over from the States some 15 yrs ago (commerce ==> money).
