Nope, buying shoes is a nightmare for me so I'm happy if I have one pair I like that is also comfy.
I have hypermobility and due to that need inlays from the podiatrist. These do not fit in all shoes or makes them uncomfortable to wear as you're always slighter higher in the shoe than what it's made for.
Putting the inlays in summer sandals is sheer impossible, so even on stinking hot days I wear trainers. Including under shorts.

I still have quite a lot of 'old' shoes, but I don't wear them for that reason.

frustrated clothes hoarder herefrustrated
People give me clothes sacks and sacks of clothes many with the tags still on them and I donate many but a few items always make it into my over stuffed closet and dressers. I can't say no to free clothesfrustrated
If we ever get to where we can start dating again, I can go out every day for a year and never wear the same thinglaugh
I need a bigger closet!

Oh yea, don't consider myself a clothes / shoe hoarder but probably am. I just packed up my summer clothes and sandals to put away for winter and was telling myself wow! If I wore a different pair of "summer shoes" every day for the 3-4 months of warm weather Oregon usually has I still would have ones not worn but I cut back on my shoe purchases, now athletic shoes that's another story lol

I did a thread on shoes a bit back ,I have about 120 pairs of footwear, that includes slippers about 12 pairs ,even indoors on my own I have to colour coordinate ,A shoeaholic and guilty of several shoeicidal errors ie ,they will stretch a bit in time
Clothes are another story , I have a pair of socks in good condition that I sometimes wear that were my fathers and he died in 1960

I dread shoe shopping. I have hate/hate relationship with shoes. As a kid I had to have special shoes made. It was a hardship on my parents and could only have one pair because it was expensive. I have about 7 pairs now, sneakers and 1 pair of hiking boots.

My thing went back to childhood ,I was just 10 when my father died,my mother had no money and a poorly paid cleaning job ,two men from the local church charity called with a parcel it was shoes for me and my 3yr old sister, every time I saw these men they mentioned the bloody shoes which I hated , I did odd jobs for people and saved up , not for toys or other boy things but a pair of fashionable at the time pointed toe shoes bigsmile

The shoes I had as a kid were ordered by doctors. They were ugly and I hated them, but I had to wear them.

I feel you Cat as I, too, had to wear shoes ordered from the hospital. I wore a calliper when I was young and the only shoes the calliper would fit were boys lace up shoes. How I hated them! I had no other choice though.

I've had to wear special boots as well for a few years as a child. My mum spotted my feet were getting flat and she had inlays made. Steel ones at the time. These needed supports under the foot arches so it was really bad :o
I had to wear them in sturdy lace-up boots and I didn't like them at all.
But my mum doesn't budge so I just did as I was told. I had no choice.
It did work as my feet aren't flat even though I am hypermobile and I've worn sandals and other silly shoes that don't do your feet any good all my life.

:hugging:

I was in a wheelchair for months and wanted to stop using it so the next step (no pun intended) was to get upright and I needed the help of the calliper.

It took 18 months to sort my problem and all has been good ever since happy
