Hang your head in shame ,GREED, GREED ,GREED
Paying players £100,000 +per week And asking the government / taxpayer to pay the wages of the lowly cleaners, security guards etc |

Absolutely sickens me what they are paid .
I just cannot see any justification in that whatsoever, just to kick a ball about . Grrrr this grinds my gears so much ,so I’ll shut up now else I’ll go into rant mode over it |

Hang your head in shame ,GREED, GREED ,GREED Paying players £100,000 +per week And asking the government / taxpayer to pay the wages of the lowly cleaners, security guards etc Then do not watch their games or buy their merchandise. Professional athletes get paid whatever the free market permits. |

And maybe if they were a pioneering doctor, physicist or technologist they might just be worth it. The gladiators were some of the wealthiest people in Rome but at the end of the day, they were just killed to entertain the jaded masses. These people just kick a ball around.

Most "professional" athletes are paid
far more, than they're actually worth. And, will continue to be, as long as people are foolish enough to put up with it. |

Lol that's what free market does. The wage of an entertainer is determined by you and me through our capital. While actually the wages are to be determined by the amount of labor performed to make any good or services (in this case entertainment). Do they contribute more than the others to the economy to get those wages? They're only pawns used to fill pockets of corporates running the show. The elites earn way more than that sitting at their private islands and yatch, they even avoid taxes. Let me tell you, they have an escape plan when this outbreak is over. Only Working class will suffer when we come out of this pandemic. The banks have turned against the working class, the employers have turned against them and now the rich wants these people to sacrifice themselves for good. The world is already officially going in recession but could possibly go into a depression.
The pandemic doesn't care if you're upper class or lower. It will come for us all. Possibly hundred millions will be infected by end of year. I hope we all will make it. |

In the US, at least, governments do not pay the athletes, nor do the pay the 'lowly workers' The leagues for which athletes are making the profits, and the fans which they are bringing in, dictate the value of what the athletes earn. The profits from the fans that the celebrities bring out to view and pay for the entertainment also dictate the value of what they earn.
If everyone involved is making more than the cost of living, I have no issue. It is when, within one industry and it's profits, there is such disparity that some involved in those profits are barely making the cost of living and others are making exponentially more, that I question it. There should not be the disparity where those at the top make seven figures or more and others barely make minimum wage. There should be more 'equity' amongst income within any given industry/company. |

I don't and never did I do not follow any sport , but as a taxpayer I have no way to opt out of paying for their non playing staff while they have millions and I don't . PS, If you did not know. the UK government are making up the wages of laid off workers with taxpayers money , Many small companies with far less money than mega rich football clubs for now are paying staff themselves The players could forfeit their wages for a few months and the clubs can well afford to pay their own staff But no their greed will not be forgotten |

I Want to add, that many people have employment because of the profits that these celebrities and athletes bring in to allow it, at least in the USA. A TV series is produced, and people watch for certain celebrities, because the fan base for those celebrities is so high, their association makes larger profits, allowing for more employment of all the people it takes to make that show. IT is a circular effect. No one should have to struggle if they work, but there is also, to me, a reason that the celebs and athletes make what they do, not only because of profits they attract, but jobs that those profits then are able to create. |

We're great at laundering money
Arguably the best in the world at it Does that answer your question? |

There's lots of things that we can do without and professional football is certainly one of those, considering what it became.

Ah come on
Money ruins many things You can't blame a game or sport |

Who are Shiekhs , oligarchs , politicians and such, economic criminals , or they would be if they didn't make the laws. Have a pop at them, fine. But not football. Football is ruined by this stuff just as much as anything else. It's the high altar in many ways
