If you honestly believe that it's pompous and arrogant of me to resent a total stranger trying to speak FOR me, then I think you missed the whole point of my post.

No, I knew exactly what you meant. But the post that I quoted this from was a much better representation of it, and I just called you out on it, because I knew you had it in you!

Wish we had a few more like you here, Eljay -- I think it would be a much less contentious venue....!

Perhaps God doesn't cure amputee victims, because doing so would be damaging to the greater good?

What good is faith, when some amputee grows back a missing arm? Instant proof of God. Faith goes out the window. Miraculous healings are plausibly deniable, because the doctors can sit back and scratch their heads..."What happened?" But a new arm overnight, that's going to do more than raise eyebrows and cause people to scratch their heads.

This is exactly my point. If God ever did miracle's then it wouldn't be faith anymore. It would be knowledge. So he cannot do miracle's.

Yes, that's exactly NOT what I said. laugh

Every year, we read about someone who was diagnosed dead and the person is found to be alive. We see people who were terminal with cancer, but they make a full recovery. Miracles happen everyday. But they are always miracles that could be explained as something else. Regrowing a limb cannot be explained as anything except act of God, unless you are a lizard.

I can't wait to read your next response, for some reason the following lyrics keep going through my head...

Come on baby let's do the twist
Come on baby let's do the twist
Take me by my little hand and go like this
Ee-oh twist baby baby twist
Oooh-yeah just like this
Come on little miss and do the twist

My daddy is sleepin' and mama ain't around
Yeah daddy is sleepin' and mama ain't around
We're gonna twisty twisty twisty
'Til we turn the house down
Come on and twist yeah baby twist
Oooh-yeah just like this
Come on little miss and do the twist

Yeah you should see my little Sis
You should see my my little Sis
She really knows how to rock
She knows how to twist
Come on and twist yeah baby twist
Oooh-yeah just like this
Come on little miss and do the twist
Yeah rock on now
Yeah twist on now
Twist.

Good song, Spider. As humming requires me to keep my mouth shut, I'll stick with that this time around

Of course Jesus IS God, always has been always will be. He said, I AM. The same thing God said in the Old Testament to tell the people that He is God. The disciples were eyewitnesses and died for what they believed. Who would die for a lie? We're talking about ten men, not one or two.

Faith and miracles are two separate subects. One has nothing to do with the other.

I can think of wars started by lies were many more men died

Miracles are the death of faith because faith is belief without knowledge, as soon as God makes your water wine you KNOW he exists. No more Faith, only knowledge. God asks you to be faithful

You can't have miracles and have faith.

I also wonder why do you need anything more from God. He gives you life. isnt that enough

Rabbit;

I've never considered my faith to be about God actually existing, but rather that He would do the things He promised He would do - as in the response to prayer, giving of the Holy Spirit, ask and though shall recieve, knock and the door will be opened. That is where my faith comes. I don't rely on it to support my belief He exists. Just to give you a different perspective of faith. Therefore - the assumption that miracles pre-empts faith is not a valid conclusion, as your perception of what faith is seems to be limited in your premise.

I would define faith as believing in something without actual physical proof. How would you define faith as you use it above?

to ferals comment Below This is what I am saying why look for miracles be happy with what you have, your faith is all you need.

If you have faith you don't need proof......the proof is in the faith

That's a fairly accurate definition. I would extend it a bit. I've always liked the verse in the book of Hebrews which states

"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." (Heb 11:1)

It's the "being sure of what we hope for" part that sort of takes it a step beyond "something without physical proof". When refering to "faith in God" - I suppose it goes without saying that there's a lack of "Physical proof" as it were. But I have very close and dear friends whom I have faith in that they will deliver on promises and requests. I have faith in them - and they rarely, if ever, let me down. I have others in whom I put my faith. Tom Brady - QB for the Patriots is pretty good at delivering. I have faith that he'll lead the team to victory when there's a chance to. He's pretty gosh darn amazing at it. Granted - my faith in "man" is fairly realistic as I'm always prepared to anticipate a let down. But in matters of faith in God, I've never been let down when seeking to understand His will. It's just what I've experienced in my life.

There were twelve disicples.

Faith can bring miracles. Miracles can be of faith.

Millions have died in the name of "oil" as well.
