I've started another painting yesterday. It's going to be another cowboy on a horse. I like the theme!!

Prep work took a long time but I got the very first beginning on canvas, hihi.

Got to test out my new brush for the back & foreground. Happy with it! It works as I had hoped it would.

Lots of work to do still, on everything.

Filled in colour, worked on the shirt and chaps for the most part.
Not done with either, it's all just the very first beginning :)

Day 3 of my new painting.
Worked on the horse.
I'm actually quite happy with it!
Now wait and see how it works out when I add the saddle, bridle etc. etc.

Done a lot of small tweaks and new things, like the stirrups, his jeans, boots, beginning of the saddle bag & slicker etc.

I noticed this afternoon that it looked as if his one leg was way longer than the other.
I measured with the reference image, it was actually okay. Only thing wrong was the angle of his right leg -that you see on the left.
So I got the paints out after dinner (only just finished up) and corrected that.

Colours are bit intenser than in real life cause I took it just now (evening) with the 'night' setting of the camera.

Must say that I really really really like the chaps, hihi.
I worked on those as I had to change the angle of that leg. I like them much better now!

Almost done!
I changed the entire background. I wasn't happy with the way it was and I just couldn't get it right.
And once something annoys me...
Now I am happy with it!
It no longer distracts from the main subject: the cowboy and the horse yet has enough interest to make it work.
And the cowboy & horse have enough detail to fully carry the painting :)

What remains are details here and there. The dustcloud will partly go over the stones, just a bit.
Have to paint the saddle horn, hate doing these things. So difficult to get the angle of it right, grrr!
The bridle has been painting in but needs some highlights as you can't clearly see it now.
Stuff like that.

Oh yes, and a tail!

As it is I'm declaring it a finished painting :)
Since my last post I changed an awful lot! Like the pushed up sand, the hind legs and so on and so forth.

I'm thinking on a title now :)
