there is no way the steelers would win that game im sorry, i personally hatethe patriots but players now are just faster and all around better althletes steroids or not, the patriots would win easily hate to say it...that bein said john elway and the broncos would give em a run for the money. ROFLMAO..you are only 19..how the hell would you know what the Steelers were like back then???   You are wrong and wish I could put money down cause I would bet you in a heartbeat! i may only be 19, but ive watched the old games from 80s and 70s, all the players just move slower, it was a slower game, if they wrent overwhelmed by the speed alone, then they would be overwhelmed by the complexity of the offense and defense the patriots run...good try on sayin i dont kno what im talkin bout tho try again maybe u will actually be right...doubtful tho You "watched the games", nah you maybe have seen "clips" and such, but you didn't watch all the games. Speed? They don't run any faster. Strength, they didn;t get any stronger! Go lookup a pic of Mike Webster if they have one on the net. i seen a pic of him years ago without a **** doing deadlifts.. the man was a damn BULL! No reciever today is faster than Lynn Swan or John Stalworth and 95% don;t have thier TALENT! Jack Lambert comes through that line and takes your head off with massive power and speed. And those guys didn;t have all the high tech junk they have today to protect themselves..they are simply TOUGHER than those today, because they had to be. So no doubt you are wrong. Players, in every sport today are MUCH less than they use to be. Today its all about the MONEY, not the SPORT. Not saying this out of spite or in an angry way..so please don't take it that way. Not saying that todays Pats aren't good, they are very good and have some great talented players. But the Steelers back then were the total package..no weakness in ANY spot. Can't say that about the Pats. |

just to get things straight, they were playing against The Colts, The Refs, and Canned Fan Noise..............and they STILL won-case closed 19-0 best team ever , see everyone next season Your nuts the refs were on the patriots side and the patriots was cheating the first 10 games until they got caught. The Colts will see them in the playoffs and they will be going to the super bowl again. The patriots don't have a chance at all. |

There is NONE! So living in the past? Nope. Just KNOW what I have seen first hand..BIG difference than from a kid who wasn't even a twinkle in his daddy's eye of the time. The thread was started by asking "who you thought is the greatest team ever"..well thats my pick..and I've seen them both play first hand, not just from a few highlight clips. Well - I'm old enough to remember the Steelers back then, and the youngster is right. You can't compare the Athlete's of today with those of 30 years ago. Today's athlete's are in much better shape, and the game has advanced beyond their knowing how to begin to defend it. Largly in part because of them (As I'm sure you all recall Tony Dungee played for those Steelers) So don't be so quick to think that it would be that easy. We'll just never know. |

I still say the Cowboys of the 90's, 49ers of the 80's - Patriots OR Colts would beat the Steelers of the 70's. But you CAN'T compare. The league has advanced beyond comparison. Stats for the 70's are meaningless in the 2000's. There are 32 teams now. They play more games. The offenses and defenses are so much more sophisticated. The arguments are irrelivant. And Don't get me wrong. I was a huge Steeler fan in those days, and they were great. A dynasty! But to compare dynasties - fruitless. |

Lots of things have changed. And no I was not there back to watch the games pre-1970 (at least any I can remember) so you have me on that one as well. And you are correct, more teams, many more advancements, etc. But the 70's Steelers against the 2007 Pats...I'd still take the Steelers in that game in a heartbeat!

Yeah - too bad the Dolphins won a game. It would have been 14-0 against 0-14 for the all time NFL single season record, against the franchise that holds it! Well - it still is, but 14-0 against 1-13 is not as "romantic". And the Dolphins in Foxboro in December! Even when they were a great team they had a hard time beating the Patriots up here. If the Jets offense couldn't score - what happens to the Dolphins!

I will be at the Miami game and have seen them lose many at the end of the season in our house....This year will be no different...Although I too wanted to see them come into our house 0-14 as well.......It would have been more drama......the fans love that ****...lol...
