Topic: Come after you are raped - Indian cop to complainant | |
---|---|
Unnao, a district in UP state, quite near to Delhi has hit the headlines with rape, murder of victims and recently setting ablaze a victim who was on her way to court. More recently .. [quote[ A woman in Hindupur village, the same place where the rape victim had been set on fire on Thursday, said: "I was going to take my medicines. These three men stopped me and started pulling my clothes. They also attempted to rape me," she said. The police refused to file her complaint of attempted rape and told her: "Rape has not happened at all! Come when it happens" is what a cop at the police station told the woman. The woman said she has been visiting the police station for over three months but no one has heard her case. "After the incident, I called 1090 (women help line) and they asked me to Dial 100 but they asked me to report the matter to Unnao police," she said. She alleged that the three accused have been threatening to kill her as well. "They come to my house every day and threaten me with dire consequences if I file a complaint," the woman said. - Only in India! |

Watch what you believe. Them same cops many find you! I was saddened and disgusted to read about that poor young lady!! The purpose in posting is two fold. One, to spread the word that foreigners travelling to India must take precautions when travelling alone. Second, to understand how the police in other countries respond to such complaints. I'm seriously interested to know how Canadian police would have responded as per law, since Canada is having low crime rates. And of course, how the Law responses in US, UK and other European nations. |

Indian Police in action - in Delhi. University students protesting fee hike - wanting an audience with the President who is also - super chancellor of all universities -- lathi chagred. No wonder the Brits, tiny island ruled over this country for hundreds of years! Or as far as our Police is concerned, the Brits never left us. |

Indian citizens are themselves not safe in india, forget about tourists from other countries.
In india, Justice is often bought by capital. The cops will not bother to help you if you're in a situation where your life is in danger, the cops won't even consider your plea. The more bribe you give the more it will favour you. Now who would like to live in such society? Problem is with indian citizens too. They believe that its women's fault for going out late at night when they get raped. Such disgusting backwards thinking never dies. Generally People here do not blame the police for not doing their job. The police are responsible for letting crimes happen. There are no patrols around metro station, malls, cinemas etc. The police does not care if any crime happens which they could prevent. Shockingly, the public does not care as well. They are very comfortable to blame victims for that. The indian public should have protested in millions. They should have marched to the parliament house in the capital and surround it. The government is weak, people's power is above them. We need police reforms and judiciary reforms too. The problem is how to get people to protest? Some protests are erupting in metropolitan cities of india, which are not organised. Tribalism has doomed us. |

As i said, was looking for responses from other countries on how their police handle complaints of attempted rape. The picture, baton dance with the police - was just cause it is a nice picture. a commercial break. --xx Since Assange is behind bars on consensual sex without condoms and since this is allegedly - rape We may suppose that 'attempted rape' is also actionable by police needed a reference to their Law I know a lawyer here in Mingle so trying to wake her up -- and frankly, nobody here has time to care on what happens to a million of Indians -- because there's more than a billion of us. 1.35 today -- 2050 - 2 billion - now that's a nice topic!! |

Within the States Attempted Rape is a Sexual Assault and treated as such...
When one is accused of attempted rape they can in fact be arrested where they will have to bond out and then they will have to go to court or plea down the charges.. If law enforcement or the prosecution team feel that they are not able to prove guilt, they may decide not to press charges. They may have encountered challenges proving the case due to a lack of evidence, an inability to identify the perpetrator, or other factors. So in order to file charges one does need some proof.. It can not always be your word against theirs.. Same with attempted kidnapping just cause they did not get to finish the act does not mean they will not be prosecuted in the process. Now days with many having Camera's everywhere the proof can be shown at times even easier.. But if they are in fact texting her threatening her then that is a whole new charge of Harassment with the intent of bodily harm.. Which they get get a Restraining Order on the person where they can not come within a certain distance of that person nor contact them in any way.. If they break that it could mean jail time.. Rape or attempted rape is not something they just brush off even tho one may not have enough proof the Police will still file a report it is up to the individual to follow through with a Lawyer to file charges.. |
