The French and irish presidents announced today that unless they sort it out there trade deal that has just been agreed could be in jeopardy! Well, considering it's taken the European union 20 to make a deal I doubt very much that Brazil will give a chit! Which just shows how useless the European union is What I understood from I think CNN was that he indeed doesn't give a chit about threats concerning trade. I don't know who they mostly trade with, if it's America he probably doesn't have to be concerned. I saw him in another clip -also CNN I think- being overly chummy together. Yes your right. try watching a couple of other channels crystal, like sky or bbc 24, what they say varies so much Yes, annoying isn't it! They're all told either different stuff or it's got to be censured in varying ways. I'll have a look. |

I was sceptical about the young 16 year old girl from Denmark that has been voicing the concerns of young people but someone needs to start listening and not thinking about how it will affect there business! Brazil don't give a chit and they know the world as we know it needs the rain forest! |

Brazil don't give a chit and they know the world as we know it needs the rain forest! Yep, that's the problem... In a way you'd say the rainforests, or any other area that is crucial for our survival, shouldn't be 'owned' by a country. I was told though that you can invest in buying pieces of rain forest. That way they hope to preserve at least part of it. In a way it's a miracle that there is even something left of it if you hear how many football fields a day are ruined for farming / industry! Not just one football field, but a great many. Insanity! The Brazilian president was angrily shouting that other countries, like Germany, should replant their forest. And in a way he has a point, but... many countries ARE doing just that. Plus, I doubt any forest is as vast as the rain forest so to plant enough trees to replace that, and for new forest to grow as old as the Amazon... will take forever! The di(khead doesn't seem to get -nor care- that the animal & plant life and the indigenous people in the Amazon are unique and cannot be replaced by replanted trees elsewhere. |

Terrible. what I can't get my head around is this bs of carbon offsetting!
So basically that means you can pollute as long as you pay |

So basically that means you can pollute as long as you pay Sadly mikey I think you're correct, as has been said many times it always comes down to money. Crystal it seems to me this sleezeball President shouln't have been pimpimg it out to start. |

Crystal it seems to me this sleezeball President shouln't have been pimpimg it out to start. Nope. It's just quite shocking if you see how many leaders there are in countries at the moment who don't give a t*$$ about anything except for money and power. I had no idea though that the Brazilian president was one of them, making it even worse. I just checked the amount of rainforest that disappears a day, for farming, not due to these fires, the "normal" ruining: It's the size of 1 footbal field a minute!!! I cannot even imagine chopping 1 football field, let alone 1 a minute, every day, for years on end? How can there even be something left? And go figure how much there used to be! Now the fires on top of it all... |

it appears that the steady March toward self annihilation by mankind continues...planet earth can certainly manage/survive without humans and it may be yet proven... the race is on - pollute the oceans beyond recovery or eliminate the plant life beyond recovery... absolutely amazing!!! |

Yes, it certainly is not good news, let's hope the fires are soon brought under control. I have a small garden, but I have a few conifers, we all need to think about planting trees in our gardens, or even shrubs and flowers in pots, every little helps.

Yes, it certainly is not good news, let's hope the fires are soon brought under control. I have a small garden, but I have a few conifers, we all need to think about planting trees in our gardens, or even shrubs and flowers in pots, every little helps. Erm... that would mean there'd have to be 52 trees for each person in their garden, EACH person, so including babies. There are 390 billion trees in the Amazon and 7.52 billion people. Not possible. Plus, the unique animal and plant life that is being lost mustn't be forgotten. Or the indigenous people who live there, of whom too many have already been killed off. I agree everyone needs to plant more flowers and shrubs to help nature AND the bees. South of China barely has any bees left and farmers there need to pollinate by hand now. We got the news on bees on time, even a child movie was made on it. But no one cared about that problem either, just like the masses now don't give a chit about the rainforest burning. It IS happening though, the disaster of the bees, now the Amazon... I heard a huge forest in Siberia is burning too. We are in trouble. I do not believe in something like "it's too late" but if people don't start caring and acting it is going to be. |

Haha, exactly what I am doing right now, without the sunglasses though :)
I do care about all these things btw just that negative thinking won't get you nor the planet anywhere. I do see more and more about the rainforest online BUT mostly in Lightworker and spiritual groups and by such people. But the lack of interest is so weird? People seem to just shrug it off... Whereas if there's forest fires on the US or a plane falling down or something everyone gets emotional and involved. That's why I said "Oh wel..." I've done what I can, I do the energywork for it, and I've posted about it everywhere, but I cannot make the horses drink. |

Just teasing you The fact is that there is nothing any person on the street can do. The only time it's taken seriously is if it hits economically, then there rushing around like headless chickens! |

I knew you were :)
Plenty people can do. If people take action they stir up politicians and people in power to act. None of those like civil unrest and the protests worldwide must have an impact. I am happy that there are protests worldwide, often in front of Brazilian embassies, AND from the Brazilians themselves. And Bolsonaro now has sent in military to help fight the fires, after EU trade threats. What is not clear to me is what America is doing. Do they even know about this disaster, rightfully called an international crisis? Trump said America COULD help and is ready to do so. Then why aren't they? COULD is a bit vague, like "Yes we could, but we won't." There's an American company helping out in Bolivia with a B747-400 SuperTanker that can drop 72.000 liters in one go. EDITED IN: likely the supertanker that was hired in by the Bolivian president. |

I think America did threaten them with sanctions at the start.
But trump did deny climate change was real. He said it was made up by the Chinese. cool, if the Chinese are making climate change he could put an import duty on it The point is, you shouldn't really have to threaten people to make them take obvious actions. |

Totally agree! It shouldn't be a political or trade matter at all.
Unfortunately a number of countries have chosen the wrong leader, the US, The Netherlands, Brazil, Germany etc. Then it's back to the people to wake bleep up and vote another one into office. It is really quite weird that this has happened in several countries? |
