Topic: Older or Younger or same age Dates | |

Do you prefer your dates to be older or younger, or the same age as you? Why?
If you like them older or younger, how many years? Why? |

I would prefer to date someone close to my age. I think that we could relate to each other better and more things to talk about.

I like someone close to my age also. If I were to choose older or younger, I would choose 5 or less years younger because some of these older guys look so much older than they are.

Great question! I almost always date younger than myself due to the mistaken belief that I look much younger than my actual age (in person. Not so sure about in pictures. I'm always mistaken for mid-thirties).
I have some criteria: I avoid immature younger women, preferring women who both act mature for their age, have a wicked sense of humor, and are ready to do adulting. The average age for me: 32 - 39. I have two daughters that are grown and on their own, and I miss having babies around to raise and enjoy life's milestones. I'm looking to have a couple more before 'closing shop'. I'm very physically active, don't look my age (but do act it, at least when it matters most), and take good care of myself (plus I have zero codependent behaviors that don't auto-correct thanks to therapy and Codependents Anonymous. This seems to be a popular feature these days). I'm emotionally and intellectually mature (149 EIQ), yet love to laugh and have fun. I actually am getting pretty serious with a 32-year-old lady on here who wants a family and we really enjoy each other's company. When it really boils down to it, chemistry wins bigger than any other factors. It's absolutely not about "she looks younger", because that will fade with time (as it always does). |

Also after 60 it is only a number anyway. Some are just more fortunate to have good gene's.........LOL

Do you prefer your dates to be older or younger, or the same age as you? Why? If you like them older or younger, how many years? Why? I think I relate better to people who are a few years older, but in general age has no effect on whether I like someone or not. It's personality every time! |

Age?
When left to my own devices, I generally will only date within 5 years of my own age. When i'm with a woman, i prefer the woman i'm with. I have previously dated a woman 8 years older than myself. For the duration, I preferred 'her'. For the past couple of years, i've been dating a woman 18 years younger than myself. For however long the duration is, I will steadfastly prefer 'her'. |

I don't really have a problem with generation gaps getting me.
I do prefer women in my own age group but age is not a major deciding factor in building a relationahip. Currently, I am 10 years senior to the woman I am trying to build a relationship with but its more about how we click than how we don't. The bottom line is if age is something yer thinking about, its an age issue. |

Y'know, 30 years ago, age would have mattered to me.
I didn't have the wisdom or maturity I have now. Not to say that age isn't significant in a relationship but as you age, and grow wiser and more mature about things age becomes less of an obstacle to finding happiness. Just realize that when age becomes a subject, it matters. Frankly, I don't think about her age and she doesn't make a big deal about mine. Its more about how well we 'get' each other. |

I have no issue with age difference whatsoever and have had a long term relationship with a woman 17 years younger than myself. We loved each other and that is all that matters. We had the obvious comments from some people that considered our relationship inappropriate but we stayed together for a very long time. People accepted our relationship was deeper than some crazy idea that I was having some kind of crisis.
I don't mind if a woman is older than myself either! If you are attracted to your partner and you come to love each other, what the hell has age to do with it. We as a society tend to consider couples with a large age difference have to have some other motive for such a relationship, like "gold diggers" sorry to have to report I never had any gold in the first place. I do admit that there are both men and women out there quite prepared to take the long route to money, if on the way the rich person enjoys the time they spend together and has their lives enriched by the experience, then fine. I am sure they are aware of the overall consequences. I knew a young trainee teacher who was in debt due to the cost of educating herself at university to become a teacher. She was involved with her boyfriend and had been for a few years. They won the lottery (yes really!) but eventually the money forced them apart. This young woman, now financially secure let me know how she felt about me and wanted to start a romance with me. Now I was not attracted to the young woman in that way, I have to feel drawn to a woman and not her money! As I had no such feelings for her, I had to let her down as gently as I could because I knew the misery she had just been through with her ex. She bought a big house in a select part of the city, shortly after this our professional relationship was completed and we parted friends. So as you can see, you can't buy my love even if you are a millionaire. Love is very illusive and for some, impossible to find. If you are lucky enough to find love, believe me the age between you will not matter at all. Take the love you have for each other and cherish it. The day may come when there is no love for you to care for. Think about it Mark |

I think I am starting to prefer younger but I would have second thoughts if they were 10 years or more . It seems that the men I've met lately that are around my age ( I'm in my 60's) are to old thinking and don't seem to like or can't do the same activities as me, hiking, being outdoors, gym weightlifting, and most don't like the same music as me.

I think what you say is very true. If two people are of a similar age they do have more in common

I would prefer to date someone close to my age. I think that we could relate to each other better and more things to talk about. I would agree with you. a few years doesn't make much difference. 5 years either way for me. besides what if you stay with them. if they are too much younger than you, it wouldn't be fair on them as you become old. |

I would date someone younger than me. Age is a number, you are as young or as old as you feel. Not saying I date someone i, their 20s. That's a bite too young, someone in their 30s.
Don't know why, heck when I was in my 20s I would date older women. Now that change. |

I prefer ladies just a little older, or much younger. I'm very active and not ready for croched knee rugs and dozing in the sun room. I want a lady / girl that can and wants to do stuff. 17 or older !
