The simplest way I can put it is that the hood came with a MANDATE to be a bigot, whereas the cap does not.

I dont think all Trump supporters are the same. I take people as they present themselves. I think Americans in general hold alot of bigotry towards minorities (not just racial), so thats another element that makes me hesitant to compare that dumb cap with that offensive hood.

I have been on the receiving end of assumptions in the past. For instance, the bigotry against my minority(african americans) has been argued to come from this assumption of us being violent based on MOST of those convicted of (keeping in mind conviction is not always proof of actual guilt and lack of arrest and conviction is not proof of actual innocence) are African American, but most African Americans are not violent criminals.

I think I feel the same about Trump supporters and that hat, when it comes to the very hateful bigot type of prejudice(there are levels, in my opinion, to the bigotry in this country). That is to say, I think the majority of hateful bigots will wear that hat and support Trump. But I dont think the majority of Trump supporters are hateful bigots, just undeducated and easily led by fear tactics. Though, Im not sure if recipients of bigotry care if its motivated by actual hatred or 'merely' ignorance.

Fear tactics? Who is doesn't use fear tactics???

Americans were told by leftist, many of them in media, that Trump would start a nuclear war if he became president.
Americans were told by leftist "economist", and Professor of Economics at the Graduate Center of the City University, Paul Krugman the stock market and the economy would collapse if Trump was elected before, on and after election night.

Fear mongering is use by extremist on the right too, it was done when Obama was in the Oval Office.
But there are far more fear mongering extremists on the left, especially in the media.

Trump is the result of ignorance though, the ignorance of the Democrat party and the DNC to not give ALL Americans a better choice.

I dont think alot of people dislike or continue to dislike Trump so much out of those fear tactics though. How many democrats are running around screaming about Trumps finger on the button? not as many as are screaming 'build the wall'.

How many people are chanting 'protect our stocks'? Not as many as are chanting 'build the wall'

yes, fear tactics are an overused tactic regardless of politics, but some seem more susceptible to the buy in than others.

They aren't using those fear tactics anymore because they didn't come fruition because they weren't true in the first place. The fear mongering by the left has to keep changing....they quit using the picture of children "in cages" when it was exposed those picture were taken when Obama was in office. You keep talking about people chanting "build the wall" as though there is NO evidence that barriers work...but the barrier between San Diego and Mexico reduce illegal crossings by 90%. Numbers supporting a stance on ANY issue isn't using fear tactics, it's using facts.

And you insinuation that Trump voters were motivated 'merely' by ignorance is noting less than arrogant, no matter how you preface such a statement. People like me are far from ignorant. Did ignorant people vote for Trump? Absolutely. Did ignorant people vote for Hillary just because she was a woman or just because she was a Democrat? Absolutely.

With no link, Im not sure about what data you are providing.

Are you talking about the barrier that went up in the 90s, because there was NO barrier there?

Most 'build the wall' trumpeters dont even know the geography at the border. That it is not all just a 'walk' over, that there are. Here are some numbers.

The border has 1933 miles. There is currently 700 miles of fencing and roughly the other 1200 or so miles of it is on the Rio Grande River, which Mexico and US have a treaty to not build on so as to not disrupt the flow of the River.

Only 1/3 of the land is federally owned, the rest is owned by states or individuals.

And again, illegal crossings are ALREADY at a historic low.

so yeah, numbers are not about fear tactics, unless people use them that way.

what is the saying? Figures dont lie, but liars figure.

A wall may not be terrible, it just isnt urgently needed and may not bring results that correlate to the costs.

And for clarity sake,

I did use the word 'majority' and not 'all' regarding ignorance or bigotry in the Trump camp.

Yes illegal crossing are down but that is NO EXCUSE to not take further action to slow illegal crossings. It makes no sense to not try to continue decreasing illegal crossings. That would be like thinking if your residence was broken into 10 times in 2017 and 5 times in 2018 that there is no need to take any further action to prevent break ins since the number decreased.

Democrats keep talking about a wall being old technology and that is true. The wheel is ancient technology too, and just like the wheel a wall is STILL effective. Drones are new technology, and I think they should be used, but drones do NOTHING to STOP illegal crossings, they only detect illegal crossings. Walls or barriers will NEVER completely stop ALL illegal crossing just like door locks will NEVER prevent illegal entry but that doesn't mean either shouldn't be used. And neither of those inanimate objects are immoral to use.

The only people talking about a continuous barrier now are Democrats....they need to update their rhetoric. SMH

You didn't "use the word 'majority' and not 'all' regarding ignorance or bigotry in the Trump camp".....you also didn't use the word SOME or MINORITY. If you want to be specific then you shouldn't make a general statements about a large group of people....in this case about 61 million people.

I did use majority, insinuating the minority is what is left.

The example of a residence is quite different than nearly 2000 miles of border. It is owned entirely by that person, for one, as opposed to 2000 miles that are not owned only by the government. It is going to be most likely a few acres of land, as opposed to a few thousand miles of diverse terrain.

The amount of decrease potential for one is quite a bit different than the other by mere distance and price. The decrease would not be urgent enough in either case to shut down the household or the government over it. There would be time to figure out the efficient and fiscally responsible way to do it, and most likely details of how that fiscal security budget would be allocated, where it would come from, and what the estimates were in relation to the actual finances available to spend.

I misread what you wrote about the majority of Trump voters...sorry. But that makes your statement even more arrogant, and unless you have data to support what your contention it makes the statement itself ignorant.

ILLEGAL entry, whether it's in regards to a private residence or a sovereign country, it is a problem. The 2000 miles of border deserves as much protection as a single residence from illegal entry, perhaps more so since illegal entry at the border affect ALL legal residents. While the land along the border in large part is privately owned the border itself isn't. Protecting the border is the duty of the federal government, preventing ILLEGAL crossing on privately owned land along the border isn't the responsibility of land owner. Preventing the federal government from enforcing laws on private land along the border is a ridiculous concept.

not everything is supported by data when it is an opinion, just as your opinion of what denotes a problem or how building a the land the border is on cannot be owned by a private owner is not backed by data, but rather opinions.

I did say those were what I think, suggesting my personal opinion from my personal observations of and conversations with Trump supporters.

Actually, private land being encroached upon to BUILD any structure is a concept called eminent domain, and some thing that is something people also think is a ridiculous concept.

As a lot of you have probably heard if you have seen any type of news in the past couple of days, one of the stars of the FOX TV series 'EMPIRE',Jussie Smollett, who is both black, and gay,was attacked outside his apartment building in Chicago.

Smollett was badly beaten, had a chemical of some sort poured on his face, and had a noose placed around his neck by his attackers before they fled the scene, yelling "This is MAGA country!".

Several days before the attack happened,a death threat note was sent to FOX studios addressed to "Jesse Smollett" "Empire" with "MAGA" written on it,and a racial, and homophobic slurs inside it,along with threatening images, depicting two men and a gun.

This is just further proof that the "MAGA" hat,and slogan has now become a well known symbol of racists, and white supremacists in this country.

The latest in Arizona that border patrol has to look after and babysit. Why give them an easy, walk across situation?

247 people does not an emergency make, especially when:

Similar to other groups of families, these migrants willingly surrendered to Border Patrol with no attempts to evade or hide from authorities.

If we just left them there and didn't look after them, would you consider that an emergency? How about a thousand just left in the Arizona desert in the summer? How many would need to die before you considered it an emergency? With a decent barrier, many wouldn't even try; they now count on the border patrol to arrest them and provide for their care - makes no sense!

With a decent barrier, many wouldn't even try; they now count on the border patrol to arrest them and provide for their care - makes no sense!

It does if where they are leaving is worse, and they expect people where they go to be humane.

LMAO!!!
I think that when people start trying to disguise racism as 'concern for the brown people's health',it simply REEKS of desperatrion, doesnt it?

So someone wrote MAGA means that it was someone who is a Trump supporter..really..and if they wear a MAGA hat that means they are a Trump supporter..WOW is that all it takes to fool people..What if someone wrote Hillary was here would that mean Hillary did it..or if they wear a hat that said Pelosi that would mean they were a Pelosi supporter or that Pelosi did it..LOL..Sure doesn't take much to fool people..even if it were ONE person who did it who wore ANY hat doesn't mean that most people wearing that hat are racists..what if they did it wearing a FUBU hoodie would it mean most of those wearing FUBU gear are racists..If I wore a FUBU hoodie while committing a murder.. what would that mean..by your logic..most who wear FUBU gear are murderers..LOL

I suppose NOT being a kkk member and never had been or ever will be ..if I just wrote KKK it would mean that the KKK did it...really...noway

Given any thought to that just being a way to throw people off..obviously not..

The latest in Arizona that border patrol has to look after and babysit. Why give them an easy, walk across situation?

247 people does not an emergency make, especially when:

Similar to other groups of families, these migrants willingly surrendered to Border Patrol with no attempts to evade or hide from authorities.

I would much rather spend 5 billion on a wall than 50 billion supporting people who live here illegaly..Obama and Hillary are both traitors to the country..and so is Pelosi who has also enriched her family by directing government funds to companies her husband has invested in ..

How will a wall reduce what is spent on those already here? If they can show with data that a wall will amount to 50 billion in savings ... the proposal makes sense. Somehow, I just think thats empty rhetoric though.

If we look at current trend, where there is 11 million(including children) and 4 million are working. We could say roughly 63 percent may need or use 'support'.

If we look at the rate of crossings (roughly half mill a year), we could then figure 315000, if we look at the per capita rate for 'support' in this country of 1900 per capita per year

https://www.urban.org/policy-centers/cross-center-initiatives/state-local-finance-initiative/state-and-local-backgrounders/public-welfare-expenditures

that would come to roughly 630 million, far from 50 billion in savings that way

just looking at actual numbers anyway ....

that would come to roughly 630 million

and pushing it more in defense of higher spending, if we use figures per recipient, with roughly 151.000,000 people receiving up to 1 trillion in some type of assistance, that would bring us to a rate of about 6 grand-ish per recipient

THAT number (which includes state and local and fed) would push total spending

to 2.1 billion, closer to the five, but nowhere near 50

just looking at actual numbers anyway ....

the one you have been responding to who is making the posts that says the reason we need the wall is to keep all of those poor migrants from dying out in the desert heat,of course.

it is exactly the same thing as when trump is calling the migrants coming across the border a 'humanitarian crisis' as a way to try to pretend his reason for wanting to build the wall isn't because he is a racist, and wants to keep people who aren't white from entering the country.

it doesnt take a genius to see through a story like THAT,does it?

but,lets get back on topic...

this thread is about racists, and white supremacists using the red MAGA hat and slogan as a symbol of their racism, which they have adopted because donald trump has once again normalized racism, and made it A LOT more mainstream, and socially acceptable than it was just a few years ago.

I think that the attack on Jussie Smollett a few days ago, where the attackers used MAGA slogans is a real good example that this is true, isnt it?
