Hi,
I'm 27 and I never really had any trouble getting a date when I lived in Illinois, but when I moved to Indiana I have been on a cold streak and I just can't figure out why. I mean I've gone out with a couple ladies sense I moved to Indiana, but they had no personalities or sense of humor and we had nothing in common, but at the end of the night I received the would you like to come in invite.( I declined as I'm not looking for just sex) I then decided to try online dating sites and things started to look promising as I started a very nice email conversation with a woman and I was really interested in her, but as soon as I sent the email asking to meet her she started ignoring me not answering my emails or chat invites so I give up why do ladies panic when you ask to meet them? I thought that was what these sites were all about (meeting people) I'm not really looking for a virtual girlfriend. if I was I would be happy playing the sims and starting a virtual family with 2.5 children and a dog named spot. I think I'm going to just give up and admit I will never find love. |

Rick1980:
Don't give up. I moved to Ohio and the dating has been far worse for me than it was in Michigan, where I came from originally. You also might want to try several sites, not just one. That way you have a chance to talk to more people. |

I have found that men seem to pressure me into meeting them. I am very shy and I like to take things really slow. Sure if I say that I would like to meet you in the near future, that doesn't mean I want to meet you tomorrow.
It just seems that everyone is in a big hurry to rush things. Why is that? Sometimes I think I look to "deep" into our conversations and find little things. It seems like I am always finding "red flags" and then I think theres always something wrong with the guy. I wonder if a lot of the ladies on here are like that? I just think that people need so slow down...you don't have to rush right into things. If someone tries to rush me, I guarentee that is going to put a stop to me even talking to them. So maybe, slow down if you are trying to go to fast! |

i think the older you get the harder it is to find someone to date most older people become set in their ways want things their way because thats how its been for so long and they dont want anyone upsetting the cart ..they also become more cautious because they have been in past relationships that didnt work out where as younger people are more spontaneous ..on the lighter side..... at my age sometimes you have to break a few more rocks to find a good fossil...

exactly break those rocks

You can spend days....weeks...months....writing, being pen pals, calling & talking for hours on end....and then you finally meet the person & the two of you just don't click....happened to me more than i care to remember....now, I cut all that to just a few conversations...if we can't meet within a couple of weeks, it probably ain't gonna happen....
One other thing....sometimes relationships do start with the sex....but if you choose not to, cool....just remember you have a choice..... |

I'm a woman and I don't understand us either, mostly young women I dont' understand. I don't understand online dating which I have been doing for the last 6 years with practically no luck. I had one relationship from online dating in all those years. I just recently met a man who lives maybe 5-10 miles away and we have talked on the phone almost every day for 2 weeks, but he acts like he doesn't want to meet me because he is insecure about his weight, so I just talk to him when he calls, it is nice but he is meeting other women who live further away, what is up with that?

Actually I think its commendable that he didnt just screw anyone that was willing...good for you! I say hold out for the ones that count or they'll pass you by, cuz you'll be just yet another typical guy. Its a turn off, really.

Unsure--Not a few weeks, 2 weeks....why waste weeks, months or whatever only to find out when you meet there is not enough Chemistry to make it work.....
I used to think like you did....get to know the person first....but after I got burned a few times(didn't look like picture or just didn't click in person), I realize that you never know until you actually meet.... Look at yourself....you find red flags in conversation & you haven't even met the person....a couple of prelim conversations, meet, click, & then spend time getting to know each other.... more effective...less letdowns.... |

Ahhh, Rick, I don't understand women either...or men for that fact.
I think there is something wrong with Indiana. Isn't that where Lex is? Where is Lex, BTW? His input would be good here. Everyone has their own comfort levels. I have met people quickly or taken months to meet them. Some good results, some bad results. It all depends on the mood, work, childcare, etc. No matter what, you have to wait until both parties are ready to meet. I do always think that you will never know for sure until you meet. How hard is a cup of coffee? Then again, I'm saving my pennies to go Down Under to hang with Lee. Wonder how long it would take to row and if I have enough vacation banked? M |
