Women can get real emotional about a man of interest especially this time of year. When there is warm loving feeling in the air.

Special times of year get out keep busy and forget about Romance.
It will find You if it's ment to be.

Online there are many contacts not commitments.

I think it goes with both men and women, Toody. When the holidays hit, a lot of people want to couple up. It has something to do with sharing family memories, when you were young, and continue that.

I tend to stay clear of meeting anyone around the holidays. Seems holidays can be busy and stressful I wouldn't even think of meeting or starting a relationship at that time.

There is nothing wrong about meeting someone new or the coupling up with someone, it is the unhealthy emotional attachment you make with nothing to support it other than it feels good at the time!

I think there is a large group of singles who want to date someone only during the holidays. They don't want to be alone from Thanksgiving to new years. After that, it's over.

catinidaho - I think you are right. I live in a complex of duplexes and we all have ex's (thats a lot of X's) anyway, everyone seems to be more lonely during the holiday season. I've been getting "favorite" notices from people that obviously haven't read my profile.

Valentines Day, can be just as bad.

Thankfully, it's just one day, not entire season.

If that is the case where people are actually lonely during this time of the year, why are we so afraid of letting someone into our lives?

If a relationship starts around the Holidays and ends after New Year or before New Year , that's just a long DATE.

I had a lady friend try to shame me into inviting her over for Christmas.

"I've never been alone on Christmas.... I've never spent the holidays without a boyfriend."

Blah blah blah.

It didn't work. She was looking for in to date me, so if I invited her, she would have thought of it as a date rather than a friendly gesture. I wasn't interested in her like that, so the guilt trip/pity ploy didn't work at all.

Maybe both get lonely. But Men can detach quicker than Most Women. In other words, A man can leave after the holidays. No problem.

In my opinion.

Are you suggesting women tend to make an unhealthy, unsupported emotional attachment quickly based mostly on their hopes and emotional needs? Tell me it isn't so!!

That is *exactly why* I am wary of starting to date someone during the holidays..I don't want to be their "crutch" so they won't feel bad at parties and family gatherings...and the dump me after the holidays.

Saves on the electric bill when you share body heat dureing the winter. It's only coincidence that it's dureing the holidays.

Here the holidays means Christmas as we don't do the rest.
I never really understood why people get lonely, you got to make your own happiness. What's the point of getting depressed about it all? Put up a Christmas tree, make your home feel nice, have a great meal or go out to have a meal. Matter of self-love and inner strength that comes with it.

The only moment I can feel a bit of a pang concerning not having a partner is at 00:00 on New Years Eve.

Christmas to me is more associated with family, not a relationship.
But I've never been over the top family oriented, maybe that makes a difference. Apart from the fact that I am quite good at creating my own happiness.
