Would you care to comment on these two points?
1. I‘ve been “reporting abuse” and then blocking whatever looks like call-girls “who”(!) turn up on my profile page’s ‘who viewed you’ drop-down. (And also in the normal “search” areas, by the way). This is not only time-consuming, but seems to be of no avail because they are increasing in number. It’s much faster to just delete all, but if I do so, is that LESS useful to Mingle2 than ‘reporting’ them? 2. On another subject – let’s call them scoffers rather than scammers. It may or not be known that when participants are being harrassed in the forums – (but not so blatantly that Mingle2 must step in) – there is a way in which one can, (as soon as one spots a familiar ‘harrasser’……...i.e., someone trying to exorcize their presumably insoluble problems by needling the author of a post).......of removing all the text instantly, without therefore having to read it: (although it’s advisable not to erase the name of the miscreant, in order to be quickly able to repeat the operation whenever the name reappears). Personally, if I were you, I would talk to the Admin about it via the Contact Us option that shows up when you click on Community.
Posting about such things in the forums does tend to make you a target. Not all of them are bots. I know this from experience. Some of them do read the forums, and even occasionally post here just to pick the brains of the members. Unfortunately, I don't have many good tips to help you streamline the process because of the way the site is set up. If I did, I would PM them to you rather than post them. Sadly, we have to leave that part up to the Admin, even though I wish people like you and I could do more to help them with the process. |

First of all just cause someone looks like a scammer that you have not had contact with, unless Admin can find a reason for the report then they will remain.. Not all are Scammers just cause one thinks they are..
Admin deals and looks at each report to determine if there is a legit reason/proof they are scamming/fake on this site.. For those members that go off site and get scammed then there is no proof on this site and that profile could in fact remain.. Forum Admin/Mods do not deal with Profiles that are being labeled as scammers.. We ask that you use the Report System in place for Admin that deals with the profiles. Contacting Support is for billing issues or Tech issues.. So we ask that members use that link for those type of issues.. As far as the Forums if you are having a problem with a member posting then that should be reported the correct way so Forum Admin/ Mods can look into the the Report and handle it according to the Forum Rules.. Even thou we look at all Reports it does not mean that it is a legit reason to report them and may be dismissed. If you Contact Support on matters that deal with the Forums it will take longer for your Report to be handled due to they will in fact contact the Forum Admins to deal with those reports.. Regardless who or why members report Post/Profiles unless they get reported then we will not know there is a problem with the Profile/Post so of course Reporting does help... Forum Admin Kristi |

I’m afraid we can’t do much, as you suggest: but it seems to me that while the scoffers are holding steady, the scammers are rising! Either way, thank you for your response. k |

For what it's worth...
Regarding the scoffers, I've already suggested to the Site Admin (not the Forum Admin) the same solution you mentioned. I did that about a week or two ago. I used to be a Mod on another forum where we had that exact function available to all members. However, it was a completely different engine than this site. |

As far as blocking members off of threads they have no plans on doing so..
As I said above all Forum Issues goes through the Forum Admin/Mods not Support. Only Contact Support for legit issues that deals with Billing or Problems with the site not for upgrades. Support does not deal with upgrades or suggestions from members of what they think the site needs to upgrade. If and when the site does upgrades and want suggestions on how to change the platform they will actually make a thread asking for suggestions. Forum Admin Kristi |

Then there aren't really any moves to make in this regard. ("As far as blocking members off of they have no plans on doing so..") Happily, (thanks to a certain son of mine), I now have a way in which at any time - as soon as I spot THE NAME of the "known-participant-with-problems" - I can if I want to, instantly blank out that person's text, and so not have to read it. Believe it or not this is a common complaint at many forum communities whether they are dating related or not. As a moderator and administrator at a few, I have tried to come up with a solution that still allows people the right to express themselves freely. The thing about community forums is that it is a public posting to the intended membership. As a public posting, it is open to public responses. Community forums are inherent disussion forums. As a Rule of Thumb, try to remember that anything you post is open season for anyone that wishes to respond (withing forum rules) and while it may be offensive personally, that member has the same right to respond as you do. There are a couple ways one can deal with it. 1. You could pay more attention to the audience of the membership and post threads that are less controversial. 2. You could stop posting threads and participate via replies. 3. You could realize that other people are different than you and have different ways of expressing themselves. A certain "Thick Skin" is needed if you are willing to post on a public forum. What works best for me is to address those that are like-minded and accept that those that are not, still have the same right to comment as anyone. Just try to remember it is a public forum. As a side note, M2 has a dependable message system, if you find like-minded people, take the conversation out of the public eye. As for the scammer issue, you realize you are on a free dating site, right? |
