ah. truth.
if you are a leftist, you trust things like reasearch and such foolishness.
if you are a rightist, you go by truths that are spread by word of mouth, and anecdotal 'evidence'.

Yeah because they have data on all these losers selling foodstamps that have never been charged. I bet they have data on how often foodstamp recieptients go on cruises. :joy:

I too have seen it countless times. It is done.. daily.. they then take the money and do other things with it. The money that was supposed to be feeding their kids is used for alcohol and / or drugs.

And the concept that the food stamps is to be used only for food.. is a joke .. to some

The corner stores in these areas are part of the problem too. I have seen people but beer, cigs, and everything in between on the SNAP card. the corner stores are part of the problem, they just key something else into the register.

interesting that those types of places would exist in communities with swimming pools and such ... I am nowhere near that level of financial success, and I have not been in such places myself in this community.

Lol.. nice try.., yes I do have a swimming pool and nice house in the suburbs, but I work in NYC, Manhattan, Brooklyn, the Bronx and I grew up there (remember) I go into these type stores all the time to get waters, soda's whatever. so I do see it.. and have since I can remember.. ya see its been going on forever.

Maybe if they stopped screwing the system and work they too would have a nice house.. and pool ;)

And by your last post, maybe you should start visiting some of these places.. and see how these folks are paying.. see what is really going out out there. then you would know what you were talking about.

well it must be true cuz you sed so.

I have relatives who made a fortune selling beer, liquor, and cigarettes to blacks for 50 cent on a dollar for their foodstamps.

Who buys groceries at a convience store when all they have are chips and candy bars. :joy: But notice they have the sign up we accept foodstamps.

people who live near convenience stores go. They also sell ice, for instance, for people who maybe dont have ice makers in their refrigerator. they also may get snacks from the convenience store on their way somewhere else, because they arent so petty as to believe that their situation should make them feel too beneath ever enjoying snacks.

Actually, I do go into those places all the time because we build in these places.. all the time. Bronx, Brooklyn & Manhattan.. And again.. I grew up in that environment. And again, the abuse has been going on since the conception of food stamps.

Relying on spreadsheets or a pie chart from the web as your source of information as opposed to actually being there day in and day out is not the way it is done. But tell me, how does your " data" show people abusing the food stamp system, how does it show people selling the cards or using the cards ( in conjunction with rouge store owners) to purchase items such as liquor and cigarette. How does it capture these daily transactions. Who was there to document it?

And you relying on the system has somehow given you a front row seat to what is actually going on thru out the country? how did you pull that off?. What I see in my urban area is done in EVERY urban area.. and everywhere where there are people out to screw the system. Cities and towns.. big and small.

And maybe since your data is soo good it can also tell us how many times a bag of crack is sold per week.

you see my point.. your " data" can not possible capture the abuse of the food stamps... but lets see it anyway.

bronx brooklyn manhattan, thats three, now how many of the other thousands of cities in these USA have you shopped in and saw all this welfare abuse?

like I said, your neck of the woods is not necessarily the broader picture of the whole program throughout the country, which is why data is important to knowing about what you HAVE NOT seen, and not basing all of reality only on your personal experience where you live.

people find ways to abuse EVERY type of system, and crack is probably sold as often as cocaine, but on the topic of food stamps, the data show them to help mostly those in need, and no data shows gross abuse that would justify throwing out the baby with the bath water.

not all convenience stores are built alike.

you may be surprised to learn that the whole world isn't built just like any one person's little neck of the woods.

Just because you have seen something doesnt make it the norm. Passing in and out of a convenience store doesnt make you an expert about what goes on in one, nor does it give you more credibility over people you dont know, just because they get their facts from actual data.

I worked/managed a convenience store and we would have lost our license to accept ebt if caught trading it for cash or selling alcohol with it (not to mention the fines). The exposed violation that went on in a prior post doing so, was a misdemeanor or felony, depending on the amount involved. Still, knowing what I know, I get my facts from data, because that way I can relate my perspective to the truth and communicate more effectively and understand with more breadth and depth.

Its like telling people vanilla ice cream is healthy for you because I eat lots of vanilla ice cream, and I am healthy, therefore, without any reference to data, I can conclude that eating lots of vanilla ice cream is healthy for you. Anyone who disagrees with me is not worth listening to, because I know.

It is no different in Chicago, Los Angeles ( both of which I have spent a lot of time in ) or any other metro area. cities big and small.

And yes, you can use NYC at a barometer, for other cities.. it is done all the time.

Do you really think that the food stamp abuse I speak of is just in the NYC area... really Lol. When I have already stated I have witnessed it in Jersey City and Newark as well. Or it is just stores I happen to walk into. When others here have stated they know of it in their areas ( nowhere need NYC)

And do you really think these neighborhood stores don't know how to manipulated the system as well

And how naive is that. Lol.. Typical. Ya can't see it so it isn't there. Its not happening in your little part of the state.. so its not happening at all.

Spend some time in the " hood" then tell me what you see. until then you really don't know

once again, people see what they are looking for.

no where did I say that stamp abuse didnt occur. NOWHERE..
what I posted was that none of us from our limited experience can state intelligently the NORM of what is happening COUNTRY WIDE or globally without further research and validation. I dont doubt what youve seen. I dont doubt that your mind is more keen to look for it and aknowledge every instance either. What I am posting is that your experience (or mine) does not prove or equate to the NORM of the whole country or the whole system. It only amounts to what you are looking for and finding.

It doesnt have to be imagined. people can research and read, but too often people dont want to know anything that contradicts their personal life experience.

do you rent with food stamps or tanf debit cards? what 'welfare' are you referring to. 'alot' is subjective based on overall use and percentage of fraud within it.

People voted a republican in because people largely vote for party over person. People voted Trump in because he gave fuel to their ignorance and someone at the top to support and validate their bigotry.

I take cash or a check. Being a landlord is like being a bartender. I hear everyone's problems. The last a tenant that mentioned welfare was her Medicaid got cut out because her child turned 16. I'm amazed that parents with kids old enough to stay home while they work, are given Medicaid. Welfare mom's are well taken care of. They were paying rent with social security from grandma/great grandma, child support. They paid regular for 3 years.

still seems like alot more information than anyone would just share with a stranger, ... even a landlord

I doubt most welfare moms are paying their rent with SS because grandma and grandpa can barely survive on it themselves.

They TOLD you something, could be true or not, but either way, I doubt its close to a norm once people know how little most get from social security.

A modest home in the suburbs, is there something wrong with that? And yes I have a pool so that makes it Beverly Hills?
I work in the city and see the abuse all the time. Born and raised there to. It has been going on since the conception of assistance
And it is copied in every metro area
And because you don't see it, it's not there?
